Just stating the obvious here -- what it boils down to is that, barring they don't move anybody, they have 10.8M to sign 2 Forwards, 3 Defensemen and a goaltender.

and regardless i still beat you too it, that top post was copied from the first post on the flyers board (go me.).. and i posted it on the espn board right after the cup ended

Defensively, Hamhuis. Offensively, Meszaros by a mile. Hammer is a better hitter, but Meszaros can throw his weight around too. Both have their strong points and their weaknesses. The Flyers clearly want to build their team with puckmovers, so Meszaros is probably a better fit.

There's an interesting dynamic building. Coburn's 2 year deal expires at the same time as Carle's deal. I'd imagine, with JvR needing a raise that year, and Giroux's new deal starting next year, that only one will be re-signed. At that point, do they go with the better option, or the cheaper option? Too far to tell now.

Signed Jody Shelley for 1.1 mil cap hit. We're outta space (.9 mil)and not enough players (well, bare minimum, 12 F 6D) - they're something else coming, I'd think, unless we think our AHLers can step up if need be or my cap number is off.

this is why it is so tough to be a gm. all of us like to say, get this guy or this guy. it is not just about this year though. it is about what happens down the road. hopefully the cap keep increasing.

I expect a trade, I really do. That is not enough cap space to work with. One of Carter/Gagne/Hartnell will be moved, Boucher will be traded or bought out and then we'll acquire a starting goalie.

Without Cote, Bartulis, and maybe even subbing Backlund in for Boucher, it's got to be a more workable cap situation.
