Say patient, yes. I just hope they don't rush the young d-men and ruin them at least in part, like they did Couturier and JVR, Toronto did with Luke Schenn and the Rags with Del Zotto, who all would have benefited from more development time.

Yep. And part of the development is just hiding the young guys from the fans when the team itself isn't great. Next year probably wouldn't be a good situation for Morin or Sanheim to come in to. The team is probably going to struggle, and the media/fans that aren't as in touch are going to tear young guys apart for not being the savior. Young guys should never be counted on to be the savior of a franchise. Unless they're truly franchise players (McDavid, Crosby, OV etc). But guys picked in the middle third of the first round should never have to have that weight on them.

If by some chance we can unload some salary somehow, I'd be interested in bringing back Justin Williams. My guess he would cost around 3.5 mil possibly. It won't happen as long as we have Vinny and few others eating up our cap with little production. Insert names here...

Vinny please just retire and lets all move on!

Where are the Flyers at now with or without Gagner? I'd love to add Williams too...

I'm seeing $6.7 million in space available with Gagner and close to $9.3 million if we buy him out.

This includes 11/12 forwards, 7 defense and 1 goalie.

As I posted on another thread, former Flyers Mike Richards was put on waivers. The Los Angeles Kings waived veteran forward Mike Richards for the purpose of buying out the remainder of his 12-year, $69 million contract, according to multiple reports. The Kings will be on the hook for two-thirds of the remaining $22 million of the deal until 2024-25. Over that same span, a portion of Richards' contract will remain on the Kings' salary cap. He is going to get paid $14 million and change over the next ten years. Don't know if there is any room to bring him to play a center spot either contractually from the Kings point of view or from what the Flyers can legally do. Hextall knows Richards quite well so we shall see.

Thanks Mav. They probably buy him out.

Agreed

But only at the right price
Agreed but I think that the man is simply broken down from the style of his game. He's not perfect but he's a trooper! I'm not buying that he gave up and slacked off...BS!

I agree on this - when the Kings called him up late in the season everyone thought he was going to all of a sudden start playing great again and they got their hopes up for no reason - it's not that he doesn't play hard and slacked off, he's just been so beat up(kind of like some of the current Kings who have played a ton of games in previous years and the physical toll adds up) - it's such a double standard that Mike Richards gets criticized for not being in shape when he's just in the same boat as a lot of the other Kings

People who expected him to be great offensively are out of their minds - and then they went off on him when he didn't meet their stupid expectations - concussions and other injuries can affect players and he did have concussions during his time there and that probably slowed him down

I don't see a reason to sign Richards.

I don't think they will sign him but I guess he could be a solid enough player on a cheap contract to give them depth more than anything

I think that he needs to take some time off and if he still wants to play he'd be a great 3C and special teams player. Rest up the battle wounds and he may be an effective player again.

I don't want Richards for anything but sentimental reasons. If he is willing to be an extra forward here I'd gladly take him. Bet he ends up somewhere on a semi-decent 1 year deal, though. Interest will be there for him from his buzz alone.
