Browns adding Winston to be Watson's backup

The Browns have agreed to terms with Jameis Winston to be their backup quarterback.

How can you replace Flacco, a dude who took your team to the playoffs after your bust of a starting QB got hurt again, with Jameis Winston.

Kind of similar QBs.....but likely because Flacco wants to go where he has a chance to start without the #1 getting hurt?

yeah, but Flacco wanted to stay there. He's a proven winner....Winston is not. I would have stayed with the steady hand.

He wanted to stay "all things equal".....maybe he is looking to go where he can start and/or for more money? Hell, maybe he wants no part of training camp and is waiting.

From sources he did but who really knows. Maybe they couldn’t come to a contract resolution. I’m sure the details will come out later. Winston wasn’t my first choice

Nor mine....but tough to get the best backups when they know they wont play unless the starter goes down.

Hope we never see him play.

He’s 30 so the years of the deal will be important but I don’t care about the back end. He likely has 2-3 years left of elite play.

Guaranteed starting spot? Maybe.....but there are a number of places he could go with at least a chance. There isn't one here barring another watson injury.

Also might want more money....also may not want to go to camp.

I don’t think you can bring Flacco back. What happens if Watson has a poor start? The fan base is going to remember Flacco’s run and they’re going to start calling for the back up. Is it possible they’ll be clamoring for Jameis Winston? In theory, yes but not as likely with the guy who brought them home to a playoff berth.

This is the narrative of some here but I doubt this regime cares what fans think. I mean, this fan base wanted to start Johnny Manziel and that regime listened.

I prefer the regime that doesn't care.

Patrick Queen to the Steelers is strong move for the Steelers - they needed a good inside LB. The Steelers D should be stellar as usual, too bad for them their offense will likely struggle with a washed up Russ at QB, a mediocre O-Line and Arthur Smith calling plays.

Yeah pretty obvious now. Before FA there were a handful of teams but those teams found their QB, at least for this year

I think teams are hanging out because the Bears are a poorly run organization and there’s a chance he could get cut and they can get him for nothing.
