From sources he did but who really knows. Maybe they couldn’t come to a contract resolution. I’m sure the details will come out later. Winston wasn’t my first choice

If his price gets to around a 5th or a 6th I’d do it. QB is the premier position in the league and you need two. Additionally, this is a Bears prospect. That’s one of the worst organizations in the NFL. There’s a high likelihood the problem isn’t so much Fields. I’d be on board with rehabilitating the asset. However, I’m not offering more than a 5th or 6th.

If that is his price I'd be all over it. I assumed they wanted a first. I'd think hard about a 3rd even. Absolutely would do a 4th

Also surprised that Payton didn't go after Winston to start in Denver. At this point, Denver has to be more than a little worried at QB. Maybe a Flacco landing spot? OR does Payton go after the likes of Jimmy or Tannehill? Or is the plan to tank this year?

Better veteran back-ups seem like a good idea in March. The problem is their salaries become fully guaranteed if they're on the active roster in Week 1. If you can sign a veteran to a non-guaranteed contract with the understanding that he won't be with the team for Week 1 and he won't be guaranteed - then great. If not...
