I don't think he'd be a great fit there regardless, I'm not sure where else he'd go though - Taylor Hall can play center and RNH can play center too so they can split them if needed

Well that changes everything. Didn't know Hall was at center.

Yeah he started playing some center, he kind of volunteered to do that since they weren't deep there

Nothing big in free agency please. I'd be fine signing Michalek to a one year deal which would never happen. Stay put and bank cap for when we actually need it.

i very much agree with this. pretty much anyone seeking more than 2 years and more than 4-5 mil AAV, shouldn't be considered unless something drastic changes.

Lots of talk around the internet about Bobby Ryan (local roots) signing with the Flyers after next season (2015). Thoughts? Do you WANT it to happen? Won't be cheap, so it definitely would mean not making a splash in FA this year. It also might mean doing a couple of tweaks such as giving Lauridsen a real chance to beat out Grossmann, and giving serious consideration to moving/buying out one of LeCavalier or Hartnell.

he's pretty much a guaranteed 30 goals on the top line if they sign him IMO. i would definitely look in to it if he's available, and attainable, next summer. but i wouldn't make decisions this summer based on his potential availability next summer.

but considering i want them to be fairly quiet this summer as it is, they should have the funds available next summer to make a run at him.

nice little article there. love timonen. i for one, will be sad if we've seen the last of him in a flyers jersey. one of the best flyers dmen i've seen.

Yeah, I'd be happy to have him back for one more year at something south of $5 mil. It would be great for Ghost to be able to spend some time learning from him.

I love Timmo he's a warrior and highly skilled defense man that never got enough credit. Only criticism I have with him is he doesn't keep the puck in the offensive zone so well but if every small defenseman had a career like him im sure they would be happy.

he used to be a beast keeping things in.. i think that's the part of his game that has most notably declined.

i would love to bring him back, but i wouldn't go much higher than 3.5-4 mil for him. if he wants more than that, i hope he gets it because he deserves it, but unfortunately, i hope he doesn't get it from the flyers.

Do you guys they should play Robert Hagg next season? My Pens took a risk on Olli Maatta this season and although he's had his share of growing pains I feel that it has helped him mature as a player tremendously. I see Hagg as a similar player & could see the move helping out the Flyers in the long run.

Well they did give him some AHL time late this season but I'm not sure if he's ready or not - hard to tell

What do you guys think about mason Raymond? Could certainly add some speed to the lineup. Has scored 20 goals in his career before. Might be a nice fit on the 3rd line? Frees raffl up to move around?

I thought about that when I was on capgeek messing around with the armchair GM - he'd be a nice fit - I would like to see them get a guy like Grabovski though, they desperately need second line scoring, especially five on five and he would probably be a good fit on the second line, especially if they move Brayden Schenn as well

Would anyone still be interested in Kesler at this point? Maybe Brayden Schenn + for Kesler? I would imagine it might take a little more but if he could solve the second line issues that might be something to look at

Forget Vanek, Gaborik, Michalek, or Moulson. Vrbata or Setoguchi won't command nearly as much and could still be very effective with Giroux.

And yes to Raymond. He'd be a solid pickup

Vrbata yes, Seto no - Seto is too inconsistent - Vrbata's actually had some success in Phoenix

What do you think is more important for the Flyers? Finding a winger that can give speed and do a little bit of scoring or finding a second line center that can actually be the bridge between Claude Giroux and Sean Couturier? Brayden Schenn could be that guy but I'm not certain, and Vinny certainly wasn't that guy this season

If I were the Flyers I would go after Niskanen. Felt one component missing from the Flyers was someone who could send in a hard shot from the point. If they had that component in their arsenal, it would be a very dangerous team. Not necessarily Niskanen, but a dman with a hard shot would be beneficial to the team IMO.

Streit is their 'hard shot guy'. I don't want them going after any big name guys on defense in free agency. Too expensive, too long of a term, for a team that already has 4 guys locked up for 3+ years on sizable contracts.

Hmm, didn't know that about Streit. I guess he could be that guy, what if there's someone out there with a hard shot that's not expensive? Would that be worth it?
