we've proven to be more successful when we run and maintain the running attack while leaving the passing game at moderate attempts...

its when we abandon the run game that allows sh*t to hit the fan...

It does appear that is where the offense is right now. The passing game was on a higher level last year. I think Kaep will be fine and we'll get back to that level. Kaep is still developing and VD and Crabs will be back. We just gotta figure out how to win games in the meantime.

Yes, because Alex Smith was 7 years deep into his career when the Harbaugh era started. This is Kaep's 3rd, and only 18th start overall.

Apparently this fan base won't even give Kaepernick two seasons worth of games, when they gave Alex Smith 70+ starts.

Does he need 7 seasons to validate that he(kap) has been playing poorly? I'm not calling for the axe nor implying he's a bust but Kap played poorly today and after wk 1 has been a disappointment in the passing game all season...

Kap needs to improve at all aspects of being a QB...extra time in the film room, working with OTHER WRs, improve his pre-snap reads, get a working clock in his head, pocket awareness etc...

What i do feel he needs is a legit vetern qb to help aid him on the sideline...

Your exact quote:

"I want Smith back"

Don't make me bring the post up.

You're right, I did. I must have been blinded with rage, as that's not what I recall saying. Regardless, that was hyperbole that I said in the heat of the moment. Kap's last two plays were appallingly bad, perfectly capping off a terrible game. I don't actually want Smith back, I just want Kap to throw the ball moderately effectively. He hasn't been doing that of late.

Very few people are giving up on Kap. We just want him to play well. Expectations were high this year. I figured he might struggle a bit, but I am surprised and disappointed by how much he has regressed as a passer.

Has he really been that much of a disappointment since Week 1? He's actually been solid in most games, IMO. How do we know that he isn't spending a lot of time working on his game? Not sure we need to sign a veteran QB to help him on the sideline. Who do you have in mind?

That supporting cast didn't show up today. Our OL got manhandled and our WRs (Manningham, specifically) were bad. Oh, and we lost our top receiving weapon early in the 2nd qtr.

But no, forget all that. Forget that Kaep is still a young QB. Forget that he was playing against arguably the top front seven in the league. He should've blocked for himself and gotten open for himself.

You're right. We shouldn't expect him to be able to read a defense in his third year, or to see a blitz coming, or to hit someone on a hot read. He had some adversity in this game. But he also had a D that was playing very well, and a running game that was surprisingly effective. You used to blame Smith - and rightly so - for taking so many sacks. Kap deserves that criticism as well.

And I'm not just looking at today. I'm looking at the season as a whole.

Well no one ATM, colt isn't very much a vet qb nor a QB i ever liked lol...

But like last year, i know Alex was very good in presnap reads and preparation, I'm sure he had helped Kap on the sideline when the switch was made...

Essentially Kap has been on his own from the start of this season so where else would I look to point to in regards to his game management

I don't know about that. Kaep still has other staff to help him. I did just look up who the Niners QB coach is. Apparently, it is Geep Chryst, who has never played the QB position. I wonder why we have a QB coach who was never a QB. I concede that I know little about how coaching staffs are assembled. Is it normal to have a position coach who never played the position?

Regardless all this seems like the sky is falling posts. If we miss the playoffs and just play like pure shit the rest of the way then I'll be a bit worried.

Honestly, if Kap was on another team and everyone was veiwing his personal life from the other side of the coin, this board would be crucifying him...

Someone needs to sit this guy down (Harbaugh in paticular) and get his head straight! He needs to stay away from all the hoochies, he needs to get his stupid pictures off of instagram and twitter, he needs to stop showing up to events looking like a clown searching for attention!

Eveyone had put him on the highest pedestal, including the fans, the media and even his head coach, that I can't really blame him for his personal conduct. But now is the time to put an end to this shit...

Something needs to hit home for Kap, I just don't know what its going to take...

It could be 20 hours a day, and it's not enough. He is not reading defenses well, and is not seeing the field well.

You just said he wasn't spending enough time in the film room. None of us know what he does. He's again only played like 18 Games. Yet I'm still confident in kap a hell of a lot more then these other scrub qbs. He may have regressed a little. Again he has only played 18 games total. That is a huge topic bring overlooked I believe. Hell Wilson, luck, dalton and even newton who have played more games have shown "regression" or crappy games. Is what it sould be.

We all want him to play well. But also know the limitations have a lot to do with a bunch of other factors as well. I'm the one who always holds QBs to the highest standard on the team, but when your #1 WR is a 85 year old who can't separate and your OL is getting manhandled on every snap, it goes beyond the QB.

And his #2 target gets knocked out in the first half

I hear your point...but recent history shows you don't need the division title or home field to win it all. If we can get healthy and incorporate the guys back into the offense at the right time for the playoffs we're still alive. Losing VD and Reid in this game didn't help the cause at all and hopefully they can get healthy because the Saints are looking tough again.

No question. That's the old saying "don't meet me there, beat me there" if a team gets in they have a chance regardless of home field.

Well, I'm rethinking my earlier opinion that Kaepernick was terrible. Grant Cohn gave him an F+ for the game, so obviously I'm reconsidering.

So what did the O-line get? How about the OC? And the receivers? I would suggest those parts were no better than Kap.

Niners are playing way too conservative, thinking they can just let Frank get them through. Ain't gonna happen. Where's LMJ? Where's the sweeps with Hunter? Where's at least an attempt at a long ball? And where's the pass protection? Kap needs to play better but the passing game issues are on way more than just him.

Who is the receivers coach? Why are our receivers always so dreadful, going on 10 years and more? Ted Ginn is actually productive for the Panthers, but was a total bust here.

I understand the reasoning based on the supporting cast but that INT at the end is all on him. He had two options underneath to his right or he could have run. Instead....

My disdain for Roman is well documented and spans back to last season. He does not adjust gameplan on the fly well at all.
