Not the best analogy as those guys were I believe 73 years old then, but I get your point

Magic was only 32.

But their age was why they were support players. That and the fact that almost everyone on the team was a superstar in their own right.

Still, based on Wiggy's logic, I do think my analogy anhilates his point of view. Because regardless, Bird wasn't a support player for the Celtics. He was still their star. And Magic would have been a star too if he was still playing.

Again I get your point but Bird was totally washed up by then, he wasn't even close to a star. And Magic was of course out of the league with HIV

Bird retired right after the Olympics.

Yes he did.

Yet, he still averaged 20.2, 9.6 boards and 6.8 assists the season before. While he missed almost half the season and far from his peak, he was still most defintely the star of the Celtics when on the court.

Looking at some of the stats from the dream team, yeah Bird and Johnson, talented as they both were, still didn't do much at that tournament as both were battling various injuries (Bird retired after the tournament and the tourney was a few months after Johnson's HIV announcement).

That's one reason I started a thread before saying we could construct a team of current players that could go toe to toe with the Dream Team. Magic and especially Bird weren't much then.

LeBron
Curry
Westbrook
Harden
Durant
A. Davis
Thompson
Cousins
Draymond
Kawhi
CP3
Ayton

That team can hang with them. Which rules are used (current or 1992) probably determines who wins 4 of 7

You mean Tristan Thompson, right? Because he's one of the best bigs to ever play the game apparently.

Unless he gets traded to the Heat; then it's Whiteside

Up early with coffee....

TJ12 and CL67 let me down.....just shows who you can truly count on. Now, I have to go to Home Depot and risk prison since hiring Mexico's finest is against the law.

@Bolts

Here is your chance!

You could double the Kings' fan base for the low cost of $1,973
That sounds like quite the bargain but if he's gonna bail on the Knicks for being in a 5 year playoff drought with possibly a big offseason coming in 2019, he would probably sell his fanhood of the Kings within 3 years for half the price.
