I guess if you penalize Marino for not starting, but sure.

I got to thinking about league averages each year. Turns out Wilson's 33,946 passing yards over his nine years is actually 56 yards less than the league average over those years. His 267 passing TDs are 40 more. His 394 sacks are 55 more.

His TDs are okay, but what he really excels at as a passer is not throwing INTs. The league average over his nine years is 123, and he's only thrown 81. That alone really boosts his passer rating. Apart from the INTs he's a pretty ordinary passer, with his advantage in TDs being largely offset by his sacks.

There is nobody anywhere who has ever seen Wilson play ever thinking.......ordinary passer.....hahaha!!!

Stack this up against anyone ever

If the league passes for as many yards as he does, he's average. That's just math.

Since we were talking about Marino, I checked him against the league average for his first nine years.

He had over 6,000 more yards, 77 more TDs, 30 fewer interceptions, and 246 fewer sacks than the league average.

Compare that with Wilson's 50 fewer yards, 40 more TDs, 42 fewer INTs, and 55 more sacks.

Edge goes to Wilson in INTs, but Marino beats him easily in TDs and absolutely annihilates him in yardage and sacks.

Honestly, did you realize Wilson's passing yards were actually under the league average for his career?

Wilson played in more pro bowls
Had nine seasons where his comp% was over 60, Marino had two
Wilson had five seasons where he threw 30 or more TD, Maino had three, Marino more INT;s 149!!!!!!!!
Wilson had six seasons with a passer rating over 100, Marino had one
No need to even talk rushing

Looks like Wilson and really not close.

Do you really think Wilson is an average passer, come on man, hahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!

So much of this with Wilson

Wilson had already become the quarterback with the most wins through his first nine seasons and has now secured yet another season of play above .500. Regardless of the health of the roster, the talent around him, or the level of play from his defense, Wilson has proven to be a walking playoff berth, keeping Seattle in contention year-in and year-out.

Breaking a record or setting a new milestone has seemingly been a weekly occurrence for Wilson in his ninth season and that will only continue as his career progresses, such is the consistency he plays with.

Though Wilson and the Seahawks’ win over New York won’t go down as one of Wilson’s most challenging victories, it has secured yet another place in the NFL record books for Seattle’s franchise quarterback.

Wilson never missed a game Marino missed 11 games. only huge difference in favor of Marino is he threw TONS of passes and had great receivers. The guy had alot of yards but a TON of INT's and completed less than 60% of those passes. In his entire career......one passer rating over 100, Wilson already has 6.

I could out run Dan Marino.

Russell Wilson has never had a season with a less than 60% completions, never had a season at less than a 90 passer rating.

Dan Marino had 7 of his first 9 seasons with less than a 60%, he had 6 seasons with less than a 90 passer rating.

No matter how ya try to do this the greatness Wilson has shown in his nine season career is very real and he is obviously an all time great. Here we are with Dan Marino with inferior numbers, whoa!!!!!

And he never will be, it will be....

Brady
Montana
Rodgers
Peyton
Brees

Now right in here Wilson, Mahomes, Favre, Marino, Young, Big Ben

Now this is hilarious.

Wilson vs Brees

-------> No need to even go here, it is all Russel Wison. Not close. <---------

No QB compares to Russell Wilson if talking those first nine seasons, Simply a fact of life.

So one comment you said Wilson > Brees then you said Brees > Wilson. :pound:

adjust the era however you want, has he been one of the elite QBs for the past 9 seasons??
Depends how loose your definition of "elite" is.

There are only a couple of passing categories where Wilson regularly shows up in the top-five.

TDs: 4 times
Comp %: once
Passing yards: never
Lowest INTs: 5 times

He's only been #1 in any category once (winning the 2017 TD title by a single TD over a guy who tore his ACL and missed the last three games). His good passer rating is based almost entirely on his low INTs.

He's never gotten a single MVP vote.

Doesn't seem very Hall-of-Famey.

Sure, when it comes to a career Wilson won't put up the numbers Brees did. BUT....if talking just those first NINE SEASONS, all Russell Wilson.

except, you are ignoring that he has been a great runner too...

Lets look at it this way as well... there are only 25 QBs with 100+ wins

of those 25 QBs, 14 of them including Wilson have a W/L % of over .600

of those 14 players only 1 non current players did not make the HOF that's Donnovan McNabb...

And Wilson has already passed McNabb in every possible football stat except Pass Yards...

call them meaningless stats, but they all are important

His W/L record is already HOF worthy
his # of pro-bowls is Already HOF worthy
He has a SB win
he is 4th all time in QB rating
19th all time in TDs thrown
hes 4th all time in QB rushing yards

Looking deeper into Marino, the dude threw the hell out of the ball, but his comp% not all that impressive. 12 of his seasons less than 60% completions. He only had one season with a passer rating ovr a 100 and his career passer rating.....86.4.

He had Clayton/Duper who would make anyone look better than they were.

Duper a 9,4 sprinter at NWLa. NCAA 4x1 champion.

Marino made those guys and unlike Wilson, Marino rarely allowed himself to be sacked. He threw it away rather than get sacked, which accounts for some of his less than stellar completion %.

You say that you've been watching this game for a long time.. you can't possibly believe that Marino was a less accurate passer than Russ Wilson.

Compare Marino's college comp% to Wilsons, yep....inferior. Compare his NFL completion % to Wilson's, yep, inferior. Compare their college/NFL passer ratings, all Wilson.

There is nothing that has Marino a superior passer, the HUGE MASSIVE difference is unlike Wilson he threw the hell out of the football.

Check out Duper and Clayton college numbers, no Marino didn't make them at all.
