I like my draft a lot. I went in thinking that the Jaguars needed to bolster their oline so they would know if Bortles was the guy and bolster their secondary so they could actually play with a Seattle style scheme. Unfortunately, there was no Earl Thomas in this draft. Prewitt is a guy people love or hate so getting him in Rd4 just had to do. Rowe is a perfect scheme fit, though.
I'm really high on Beasley. Great combine, lots of production, good fit. Beasley is admittedly pretty boom/bust due to his size but Clemmings and Rowe are both top 40 guys which is great value. Clemmings could start at guard and provide insurance at tackle. Joeckel is entering year 3 next year and I have no idea how good he is. I would have liked to address Center a bit earlier but that wasn't in the cards and this isnt a very top heavy center draft at all.
I'm actually not all that certain they have a dire need at RB with Denard Robinson playing fairly well last year and they also picked up Bernard Pierce. They have Stephen Morris as a 3rd string QB and I think he is a better project than just about anybody in this class I couldve gotten in the late rounds.
Ideally I would've liked a traditional DE there, too, but the Jags roster had too many holes. In real life, I think they trade down from #3
I agree with you that the Jags #1 priority this draft is to protect and to improve Bortles... Also agree that 3rd pick was too soon... Maybe they will go WR instead, just to give him another big Weapon... If both QBs are taken before the Jags pick, then a trade may be very difficult(not saying it is impossible)... But then again, maybe the jags would not be the trade to team anyway, Oakland might be(since the redskins might want to take a QB)...
Predicting trades is very hard, and although it would probably benefit the Jags to trade down, I doubt they will do it(same thing with the Jets)...
