we got that 5th round from TB... #168 near dead last 5th round before comp picks

and I don't expect Miller or Douglas to be there at #168

It's all good. We got a sweet 1 year rental player for those picks. It's all worth it.

Which is why it's crucial Mayhew draft on of the better DTs in rounds 1 or 2, and doesn't get wooed by another shiny toy skilled player.

Agreed. We need 1 O-Line and D-line in the first 3 rounds. The other pick I would rather be CB, but we have some wiggle room with that. We would still need another O-line in the draft or FA too.

Since we don't have a 4th or 5th. Guess we would have to take either of them in the third?

I still think we might land Sherff. ALA Riley Reiff
I don't think people were nearly as high on Reiff a few years ago as they are on Scherff. Don't get me wrong, I'd be thrilled to land him, but I think he's long-gone by our pick. Hope I'm wrong on that one...

You must have some inside information that the rest of us aren't privy to on that one, then. I had no idea he isn't expected to re-sign. Be sure to check your sources, though- lot's of mis-information being spread around here by Dolphans...

See how that works.

Lions got more national exposure than the Suhphins. LOL. Read the part that says "Americas team"
Well of course we got more exposure than the Dolphins- we're actually a good football team. That seems pretty basic. Nobody outside of Florida gives a shit about the 'Phins, that's why they had to pull that publicity stunt of backing up the Brinks truck for Suh...

I would not say nobody for the fact I've been following the Dolphins longer than the Lions.

They playing a game I'm pulling for the Lions if they're not playing in a game I'm pulling for both.

Louisville T Jamon Brown had an official visit with the Lions on Wednesday, according to Mlive.com's Justin Rogers.

The 6-foot-6, 326-pound Brown was able to play both the left tackle and right tackle positions for Louisville the last two seasons. Before making the switch to playing tackle, Brown started at guard for the Cardinals, which is where he'll likely play in the NFL.

LSU OL La'El Collins had an official visit with the Detroit Lions on Wednesday, according to Mlive.com's Justin Rogers.

The LSU prospect offers some positional versatility at the next level, as he's played guard and tackle for the Tigers during his career. Collins was quite durable for LSU, starting in 38 of 39 games over the last three seasons. With Collins flexibility to play across the line, he should remain high on team's boards. The 6-foot-4, 305-pound Collins should be a plug-and-play prospect from day 1.

Mlive.com's Justin Rogers reports that Washington DT Danny Shelton had an official visit with the Detroit Lions on Wednesday.

With the departure of Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley via free agency, the Lions are looking for a future stud to man the middle of their defensive line. The Lions signed Haloti Ngata and Tyrunn Walker during the off season, but Shelton could be the long term option, who could join the rotation. The Washington prospect recorded 93 tackles, 16.5 tackles for a loss, with nine sacks and five fumble recoveries in 2014.

Iowa DT Carl Davis visited the Lions on Monday, according to Aaron Wilson.

Everyone is mocking a defensive tackle to the Lions within the first three rounds. The team traded for Haloti Ngata, but he is only on a one year deal. Jason Jones can slide inside on sub-package downs and the team might be high on a young player like Caraun Reid. Still, Davis would work very well in the Lions' rotation. He has tremendous flashes.

Because of his "size, agility and strength," Hobart OL Ali Marpet is "viewed by some as a possible center convert," according to CBS Sports' Rob Rang.

"That positional versatility could make Marpet the first of this year's Diamonds to get drafted, perhaps as early as the second round," Rang wrote. Rang is hardly the only analyst who is projecting him as a possible center. Recently, Marpet attended the Syracuse pro day and had a "private" workout observed by the New England Patriots, New York Jets, Detroit Lions, Washington Redskins, Pittsburgh Steelers, Tennessee Titans, Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers. Hobart OL Ali Marpet

There are at least two posters on the Lions Board that would like to see Marpet in a Lions uniform should they miss out on La'el Collins (pretty sure that happens) or Cameron Erving.

Marpet already has some of the best technique skills amongst all O-Lineman in this draft.
