Doubt it. Seniors have ZERO leverage!

You are probably right, but does he REALLY want to kill his career by getting into the black-hole that is the Pirates farm system?

Middle infielders going quick?

3 HS SS in top 12 (although Russell projects as a corner guy)

And looking at Correa's size, it would be tough for his to remain a SS as well.

Two top 20 arms drafted today out of Harvard-Westlake HS, Studio City, Calif. Did they lose any games?

I'm looking forward to what kind of snark Law will unleash on the Giants pick.

You are the MLB contract expert. If anyone else had asked, I would have expected you to chime in.

As it is, I have not heard anything either, so I assume it is still the same.

The rule 4 draft hasn't been in the CBA (because, in principle, they aren't major leaguers). In fact, because of the new rules I have read about, draftees can NOT be given a major league contract, thus (theoretically) the player's association should NO LONGER be involved in draft issues, draft bonuses, etc. Altho the "published changes" to the CBA had some draft issues in them. But I haven't read anything at all about "non-signers".

I don't have a copy of the MLB rules - if anybody has (or knows where to find) the MLB rules, please let me know (not the umpire stuff, which I have, the rules for MLB teams, such as the rule 4 draft).

I am somewhat surprised by the number of HS players getting picked early. I had heard that this was a "deep draft" with lots of talent - maybe not in college? Could this have anything to do with the new bonus rules? (I can't see how - HS players would want MORE in terms of bonus, wouldn't they? Eh, maybe not in the first 15 rounds...)

I saw a quick Espn spot on them. Apparently the lefty went there after his current school closed their athletic dept and the right had an elbow injury a few games into their only season together.

They still won the championship.

Declared for UCLA but it's up in the air if they go.

Nick Travieso looked like a prototype Giants arm. Projected 40 by Baseball America.

Interesting comment made before he was picked:

"Gio is unsignable" -- Fla-Giant
"He would cost us 4 picks – #1 + #2 in 2013 and #1 + #2 in 2014" -- Fla-Giant

Are these picks in the teens all comp picks?

No - it *used* to be that you couldn't lose any pick higher than 16. Starting next year, you can't lose a pick higher than 11. The compensation picks in the first round are :

#19 (pujols)
#22 (Toronto, cuz they didn't sign last year's first-round pick)
#27 (Brewers, for losing Fielder to Tigers)
#31 (RedSox, from Phillies for free-agent Jonathan Papelbon)

Edit: PS: So the Giants only got kicked down ONE pick due to comp picks. Good news, some years it's been a LOT worse.
