What do you think is the replacement rate number? The number of eventual starters you have to hit with each draft class - just to sustain the roster?

I'm thinking 3 would be less than replacement and 4 slightly over. If you hit on 6 it's going to mean some other good players are going to get cut.

So how soon can we open the 2017 draft thread :D haha

What are we thinking for next year Round 1? Edge to replace Ware (and keep elite depth), corner to play with Roby and Harris Jr going forward? An offensive tackle because we let Okung walk? I feel like those three are most likely.

PS: Its good to have the "QBOTF" on the roster already

1. Go ahead and start it - why not?! No one better than you (well maybe DC) to keep it active!
2. I think you've hit the three key positions, both in draft value and potential need.

As usual, I agree with Renck. I think down the road Simmons will be the steal of this draft. I'm just not as confident as he is that it will be this year.

I agree too - when you put a natural playmaker at Safety - on a defense that is the top in the league at getting after the passer - you have created a happy situation. I like Stewart, but when he is gone Simmons needs to be ready and he is the right guy to be the next man up.

Every expert claims Simmons to be the steal of this draft.

BTW, My next Ed Reed like obsession even though I hate the school. FSU S Derwin James. Imma be talking about that name a lot.

Jabrill Peppers has officially moved from CB to LB at Michigan.

Guy played O, CB, S and returned punts and is now moving to LB. Crazy athletic ability.

Just had a discussion on Simmons with a Falcons fan. Said it was a terrible pick and the guy will be just a depth player on the team. Thinking maybe that was misplaced anger about his own team and their 1st round pick that most considered a reach.

I like Keanu Neal, he is a thumper, intelligent and can run a bit, just surprised at him going that high as I want a S who can cover and tackle to the elite of the elitest to take a S that high. He will be a good player just not a complete enough S to go that high.

Does he have a reason for not like Simmons?

Didn't give one just said that while he liked the Lynch pick he thought Elway really blew it on day 2 of only getting two guys that would most likely be depth at best. He left it at that. Waiting for his response.

You never know how much these draft picks will excel when they go from mediocre coaching in college to very good coaching like Denver has. If the kid has the learning ability/is coachable, he can make huge strides and develope skills he might have been lacking somewhat in college due to coaching/system.

Even there the kid did really well in college. He was a very sound tackler, has good speed/weight/height for the position, very good in coverage. Just a very well rounded player for a guy coming out of college so to just call him a depth guy or special teams type player just to me shows the guy didn't really pay attention to the Broncos draft. Now given again like I said he is a Falcons fan so can't expect him to know everything about every team's draft but to me if you are going to make claims like that you better be ready to back it up.
