Myles Jack's loss of value insurance policy kicks in at the 45th pick. Gets paid about $60,000 per pick from then on, collects up to $5M.

I'm guessing he gets picked before then. Hate to see him and Jaylon lose so much due to their unfortunate injuries.

Me too. These two were easily top-10 picks before the injuries. Part of me is hoping Smith falls to us in the 2nd and we go ahead an pull the trigger. Just so hard to pass on such incredible talent even with the huge injury risk. We have the depth right now that we can take some of those chances.

I wouldn't cry if we took Jaylon as he was my favorite player in this draft class preinjury. On the other hand, we aren't likely to see much of Lynch this year, Smith would take a redshirt year, we traded away #94 - so that would only give us #98 out of our first four picks that would be contributors this year.

Good point. I guess for me I view it as the Broncos rarely have actually leaned on a rookie to contribute. The Broncos usually draft more with the idea of who they will need in 2 years instead of right away. I mean this past year 2 of our top-3 draft picks were out most of the year and our 1st round pick missed time for injury as well. So really the player who contributed the most was our 4th round guy and our hope is the 1st 3 rounds can really step up this year for the team.

The year before that only Roby did anything his rookie year where then this past season Roby, Latimer, Schofield (hate typing that), Paradis, and Nelson all stepped into different roles for the team and some of them showed up very well for us.

That is why I am ok if we have to red shirt some guys this year in hoping that year 2 we get some major return on that patience.

last year. Ray played maybe 30%, Ty and Huerman both injured. It will be too big a gamble today but tomorrow go for it. We are getting Ty and Huerman back and into the starting lineup.

Just found this as a nice piece of humor for the day. With coaching golf I spend almost every day trying to coach the little kids baseball out of a golfer.

This is for sure a good point. I love the idea of getting a potential top player and redshirting them a year but I do wonder how much thought Elway puts into that. Maybe being at the end of the round helps make that decision.
My question would be who do we have to pass up to take Jaylon with our 2? Still a lot of D-Line depth on the board and if someone like a Chris Jones is there...
After hearing how many teams wanted Lynch I'm glad we moved up and got him but that also makes it just a bit harder to move around now.
Looking forward to day 2 (just not the pats picks)

The Broncos have 8 picks left and 5 or 6 will make the roster. Based on the numbers - I would feel free to bank a guy like Jalon Smith for a year.

If Myles Jack really needs microfracture I wouldn't touch him by the 45th pick. Hope those reports aren't true.

Heard on the radio earlier that Dr. James Andrews informed Jack today that he won't need microfracture surgery. Myles probably wanted to hear that news yesterday.

Per Adam Schefter (via twitter):

So why couldn't he say that yesterday so that Jack could tell all the teams that the number one surgeon in the country disagrees with some of your doctors on what will happen with my knee?

Well I am good with Carroo is a Dolphin as I never really expected he was a target of ours.

Much better then what I feared which was Patriots mostly.

Booker my favorite player left on the board. Besides Jordan Lomax who is a good friend of mine here at Iowa, but he isn't gonna go until late/undrafted.
