$25 for a small batch? Nice. Is that a 500 or 750, though?
Meant to quote comment #39 to this, my bad.

I enjoy small batch/single barrel bourbon and have been doing exactly what you are setting out to do namely trying a different brand each time I buy.

Maker's is good for sure.

Bookers is also very good.

My kids bought me a bottle of Eagle Rare and i found it to be very smooth. Also noticed it was about 25% less than most top shelf Bourbons ($40ish) here in NH.

Basil Hayden's was very good.

Knob Creek, Bulleit, Jim Beam Black, Maker's 46 are all good too. Damn, I don't think I've tried one I didn't like!

Time to head to our newest and biggest liquor store to see what they are stocking.

yes someone else knows of bookers, its awesome

Hehe, you aren't exaggerating. When I walk into an Irish pub in the states I ask to see a whisky list. Fastest way to tell if you are I an Irish pub, or a bar that calls itself Irish because it sells Guinness and plays U2.

Come down to Baltimore. The bar I manage has 22 Irish whiskys at last count. We'll hook you up with the good stuff.

WHoa... just saw this... I have to add this post to Favs ..

Can you post the name of the bar so I can check out the website? I may take ya up on the offer...in Springish or whenever..... drag wifey down for a wkend and stop by.... and have a cab ready to shuttle us back to the hotel of course

Just found 3 bottles of eagle rare, but apparently it's no longer a single barrell, nor can I say for sure it's aged 10 years though. I bought all three. I hope it's as good.

Excellent. Not as good as before though. Slightly less smooth, with a slightly harsher finish. Still top notch, but you can tell it's not quite the same as before.

Seriously? One mention of Knob Creek? It puts Bookers, Bakers, Basil and Wild Turkey to shame. It's my go to by a wide margin.

Makers Mark if you're stuck at a Chili's or something.

The Costco small batch at it's warehouse is damn good for cheap.

Knob creek is solid. Probably third on my go to's behind eagle rare and woodford.

Hey, the Evan Williams single barrel is a solid bourbon, IMO.

On a recommendation from one of my reps I picked up a bottle of Mellow Corn whisky from the Heaven Hill line. Holy crap. If you like corn whisky at all, grab it now. Should retail for 12ish a bottle, and will be pushing $20 or so within eighteen months. Great value whisky.

Only had $25 in cash on me, so I just picked up Wild Turkey 101 today and will give it a go when I get home.

Our governor just announced there will be an increase in the liquor tax coming up soon (state run liquor stores), but didn't give any specifics on how much or exactly when it will occur. Figured I may make some more purchases right before it goes up to have on hand. Definitely want to try 4 Roses, Knob Creek, and a couple other suggestions here.
