Yep, just an NHL-experienced body in case Crawford or Raanta get hurt.

Not sure that I like the Leighton signing? I'm sure its a move just to add depth. But he way the Hawks play - which usually leaves a defenseless goalie to 'stand on his head' - seems like Leighton does NOT fit that style IMO.

This guy was bad in philly but to find a guy to ride the AHL bus waiting for our goalies to get hurt with NHL experience has to be a plus. They might be able to use that Raanta needs to play excuse and let him mind the nets in rockford too. I would think Leighton would have the opportunity to beat out Raanta in camp, just dont know what the salary would be.

not that worried about value, everyone is still blocked in rockford and there are a few ready to play. stans need to start working with the kids with the trouble the cap will be in next season.

Leddy had a nice game yesterday, from what I heard that is. But I guess playing as a first line D man is different than playing third line with a different partner every game.

almost 40 hawks played in the two games against the wings, Versteeg was in neither. Nordstrom and Teuvo are on the injury report, Teuvo from a hit from Cam Barker, on the roster as a tryout guy.

Still vote for buyout versteeg and get under the cap. I also do not think Rosival is irreplacable from our rockford guys. Would like Clendening and the big man Svedberg to share that 6th spot by mid season.

The Chicago Blackhawks announced today they have assigned forwards Matt Carey and Phillip Danault and defenseman Stephen Johns to the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League. In addition, the team has released defenseman Cam Barker from camp.

The team’s active roster now includes 21 forwards, 11 defensemen and four goaltenders.

Carey and Danault had some great forechecking yesterday. Johns missed alot of tape with passes, he played better when he was on the ice with Dahlbeck than he did with Duncan Keith.
