This afternoon's game will match John Lackey against Justin Verlander.

Verlander, 30 years old, posted a season WHIP of 1.315, well above his career 1.191.That prompted
fears on the Detroit board that he was injured or past it. His post-season WHIP, so far, is only 0.533, however,
indicating he still has quite a bit left.

Hopefully we'll push that up today.

Lackey's season WHIP was a career best 1.157 and his K/BB ratio 4.03.

Had to miss the 1st inning. Were Detroit's hits in that inning solid ones or lucky punch types?

Hope they were the latter. But I also hope I won't e the only poster in this thread.

Speak up, fellow Red Sox fans!

Verlander's up to 90 pitches now.

Keep wearing him out, Red Sox!

At his current rate Lackey could get a CG on only 132 pitches.

Anything under 150 is good, FYI.

Verlander's not far behind on that stat today, but he IS behind.

Despite Farrell's best efforts to try and blow this game for the sox, they overcame his stupidity and moronic moves to prevail.

Nice win.

Bats need to get it going. But a 2-1 series lead is nothing to complain about.

Sorry guys, I just really dislike the Tigers.

DT911, pulling a pitcher who's thrown 100+ pitches already when you've got a bullpen as oodas ours
is hardly stupid or trying to blow the game.

Shame on you for suggesting otherwise.

Does the "DT" stand for "Delirium Tremens" perhaps?
