I think the lineup change by Leyland has energized the Tigers as well. Putting AJax at the bottom, gives him opportunities to steal a base, which he doesn't get at the top of the order.

Also -- if they use Iglesias -- he can do exactly what he did if AJax gets on, which is bunt him into scoring position.

Let's at least get that pardon-my-language zero off our side of the scoreboard, Red Sox!

BEAT DETROIT! BEAT DETROIT! BEAT DETROIT!

Peavy was 100% useless tonight. He was struggling to get hitters out that r Double A caliber at best in Avila and Infante. Tossing 3-2 change ups to Avila? R u shitting me?

Lucky Peavy was off. Walking a double A caliber hitter in Avila was a sign of bad things to come

Um, Infante hit .318 this year...795 OPS and is a .280 lifetime hitter.

No luck. The Tigers always light up Peavy like the 4th of July.

We didn't get shut out anyway.

Win the next game and we get the home field advantage back, so the odds are still in our favor for the big prize.

GO RED SOX!!!!

lol. You'll have HFA whether you win tomorrow or not. It's starting to look like a 7 game series to me. We have the better starting pitching and you have the better pen. The hitting is a wash. Tomorrow is huge. If the Tigers win I like our chances of getting 1 in Boston, sending out Scherzer & JV.

He is a slap hitter who beat up on weak AL central pitching. He is a guy who has always hit these flares that drop between 3 guys or these slow grounders that he beats out. When yo uthink of the top 20 hitters in the game is Infante's name really come to mind? Seriously? WE wont even start with Avila

Sometimes that is all they need.

Sox are talking about benching Drew (1-13) or Middlebrooks (1-10 for super-prospect Xander Bogaerts - who is 1-2 with a walk in 4 AB's and has scored 4 runs! (pinch running)....

I hope they send Drew to the bench. The future for the Sox left side is Bogaerts/Middlebrooks.

I'll take Lester or Buccholz over Scherzer, even though Scherzer is good.

I'm glad we won't have to start Lackey again because his bad games can be REALLY bad.

Let's hope the remaining games will be injury free whoever wins.

Of course it was lucky. Whenever Avila gets on base its always lucky walking Jackson who is hitting a smoking .091 is lucky Petey booting a dp ball that he comes up with 99% of the time is luck

Who said anything about top 20 hitter in the game ? There's a lot of room between a double A hitter and the top 20 hitters, no ? He was top 25 in both slugging and OPS in the AL this season, hit 24 doubles and 10 bombs in 450 ABs including 1 against your guys and he isn't all that fast so I don't know about beating out grounders. Maybe you're thinking of someone else.. He hasn't shown up in the post season yet.

Look up Peavy's numbers against the Tigers the past few years and get back to me. Dude gave up 7 earned, 5 hits & 3 BBs in 3 innings. I get that you're a big Sox fan but calling what happened last night lucky is a major stretch.

Hope your wrong on Lackey in Game 7, but even more that we won't need a Game 7.

Lester and Buchholz and another chance for Peavy if there is a seventh game. Peavy will usually e better thanhe was last night, IMO.

Not calling what happened last night lucky but the fact that Avila who hit just a tad over 200 in the reg season is getting walked and being tossed 3-2 chang ups when any avg mlb pitcher can probably K him with a avg mlb fastball was a sign of things to come. Walking Jackson who was hitting under.100 in the post season was another signs of things to come. As I said Petey will turn that DP 99% of the time last night was that other 1%
