The FSU safety Derwin James would be the only one I would trade up for. It is also a position of need. James would give the Cowboys the best young secondary in the NFL. Now I say that, but I also doubt that a team would let us trade up for him if he is sitting there at 10 or 12. There has been lots of talk about us drafting a LB in the 1st round. I dont see that happening and I dont think this draft is stacked with line backers. I watched Roquan Smith and I dont believe the hype. Not impressed. This draft seems to be stacked with corners and lineman on offense and defense. I would rather see us draft lineman or corner in the first round. Adding a legit corner to go with the young guys we already have would be ok with me. There are some great corners in this draft and one of them will be sitting there at 19.
#1. I can't see us moving up for a safety. Even though we need one, we have other pressing needs too. Can't afford to give away multiple high picks.
#2. We're alegedly moving Jones to corner. There isn't a guy in that war room that is ready to call it quits on Jones.
#3. This team needs LBs (plural). Lee isn't getting younger. Georgia's Smith sure looks like a great fit at Will not sure about middle. A few others would look damn good in the middle like Jefferson, Kiser, Jewell and Cichy. Middle isn't deep at LB. Best of the LB bunch could end up being Griffin, who can play both sides. Probably don't need to go first round. Damn if this defense wouldn't be (finally) an injury away from the bottom of the NFL if they pulled two of these guys.

I kind of disagree. We have ten picks in this draft..if the Cowboys gave up their 1 and 3 for James, they would have a STUD safety...they would be able to add a kid like Jewell or Griffin who might start at LB in the third...grab an OL and DT with their two 4th's...along with what they have done in FA, I'd take that right now

I guess that is where we differ on what we think we'd have to give up in order to move up in the first round to get James. A 3rd would get us up to 15/16. I just don't see him dropping that far. I think he'll be made a top 6 non-QB player in this draft (top 10 overall)- behind: Nelson, Barkley, Chubb, Ward, maybe one more.

If you are right, I'd give up a third in a second to go get him. I think he is top 10-12 at the latest. Another guy I would love to have that I bet most on here would disagree with is RB Kerryon Johnson. I'd spend a second on him. He will be a star

If the team thought he was the BPA I wouldn't argue and you can always use a second back, but that doesn't really make us better even if he is a star unless Zeke is hurt or suspended so I hope we don't end up with a RB before round 4.

This will end up showing how little I know, but I think this kid will be as good or better than Barkley.

I never look at it that way. Who knows, for every great player drafted in the top 5 there is a great player drafted out of the first round. The internet has made everyone an "expert" and has made everyone think that each player should go exactly where the mocks tell us. How often do you read people on here ridiculing a pick because it doesn't jive with where the mocks say a guy should go?

My point on him is while I am strongly a BPA guy...I hope running back isn't the BPA when we are on the clock. I like when BPA and needs align:thumb:

Yeah, it would be difficult to take him when there were solid prospects on the OL and defense available. It's probably one that would get me fired if I were a GM lol.

CBS has James Washington going the last pick of the second round. If he's still there I would take him as our second.

The more I look at these players the more I hope we don't trade up unless we think there is a HOF type guy there or we get a great deal to move up one or two spots from a team that just lost "their guy". If you assume 4 QBs go before us and the way the NFL drafts I think it will be 5 and Jackson goes too, as QBs just go early and often most years. There are so many good players in the mid-first round type talent group. There are a ton of defensive players that could help us there and we could use help on all 3 levels. We may have a shot at the #2 and maybe even #1 WR on our board and if all those spots go we may have an OL we love. It seems almost a definite that BPA will also be a player of need for us. I was wishing we were a few spots higher, but after counting up players I think we are in a great spot

Lots of hype that Barkley i's the greatest back to come out in a long time. IDK about that. I don't see him as that.

Hope I am wrong, but it seems to me that the coaching staff wants to take a wr at 19? Ridley or Moore? Like both. Too me Ridley is going to be a stud. Moore has potential, but Ridley is ready to go out of the box. No assembly required. Ridley runs sick routes and plays full out all the time.

Lb , vander esh, Boise st, is going to be great. Trmaine edmunds probably a top 10 pick. He reminds me of DWare. This draft is going to end up being great at non qb that we have seen in a very long time. I know I am.going to catch flak, but I think Mayfield will end up being the best qb in this draft. He is going to shock and I hope he does not end up in the NFL East, unless it is with us

I watch Edwards and there is nothing about his game that reminds me of Ware, at all. His build is that of an edge rusher, but his game is that of a Mike - similar to an Urlacher. His range is like BU too, but I don't ever see him drop deep into coverage - so not sure he can like BU. BU had that safety background. Edmunds is a flow forward and read and react guy, but is listed as an OLB. But pass rush and twisting his body and dipping the shoulder is not something this guy has shown. He is a missile into a gap on a blitz player and with his size he stands a great chance of getting home on a high percentage. Probably deserves to go top 10, but if there are 4 QB, he might slip down. Also reminds me of Rolando McClain when he came out of Bama - not the McClain we got to see flaming out of the league.

If that's the case hopefully we trade dez for defense.

still want LB and safety addressed early but if somehow Vita Vea is there, I'd go that route unless Roquan Smith is reachable. Love the Bosie St LB, Vander and still think Ronnie Harrison is a player.

Wonder when Anthony Miller goes off the board?

may have to package a 4th to move up in the 2nd or 3rd round

what sounds more feasible for the Cowboys would be:
19. Vita Vea or Da'Ron Payne DL1T
50. Rashaad Evans LB
81. Quin Blanding FS
116. Rashaad Penny RB

OK, one of us is way off because he is one of the guys I consider at #19. If he is there at #50 I run up with my pants around my ankles and wagging my penis at Goodell as I hand in the card with his name on it...
