yep...based on the above. Dak clearly comes in at no more than 40M per.

boy o boy

I'm just measuring future value based on his past success. I'm in favor of the Cowboys breaking the bank again for a QB in his 30's that hasn't really moved the playoff needle for his team in terms of playoff success. I'm not a Dak hater, but I don't see a real SB future for him in Dallas anytime soon if he is eating up 20%+ of the cap space.

Dallas is a VERY attractional city for FA's, but not if Dallas doesn't have the money to pay them nor if they have the money to keep high end talent around Dak. Goff is in the same boat in my opinion.

I literally mentioned QBR which is one of the more widely accepted metrics for ranking QBs.

It is widely used to rank QB's? Everything I'm reading from sports analysts that rank the top QB's from 2023 don't really match the QBR rankings. Why do you think that is?

Also, Kirk Cousins is ranked above Goff. He didn't even play half the season.

Justin Herbert missed 1/4 of the season and barely had 3000 passing yards...he's ranked above Goff.

I'm probably just being a homer here though when it comes to Goff. :D

opinions here vary greatly.

how old is Golf anyways.

what have you seen that makes Dak so much less than those top 10 paid QB's.

lets just say opinions vary greatly.

I don't know. Maybe because they are using opinions? Listen. I like Goff and am arguing with you that he will get at least $50M per (even though he too will be 30 this year). You are the one stating how good he is and yet also how he isn't going to be one of the top paid QBs. It's one or the other.

You can say that again (or for a 3rd time). :D

Dak would still be paid as a top 10 QB at $40 million. :noidea:

Huh? One again, how is being paid as the #7 QB in the NFL not "going to be one of the top paid QBs"?

I have him as a top 10 QB, and being the #7 paid QB in the league would match what he is worth, no?

check the dates of when those contracts were signed. You think the top few guys are considered better than Mahomes? You think Daniel Jones should be within $5M of Mahomes based on talent? No, they just signed after him. It's been a "next up" business for many years now. That is IMO the part you are missing.

Here is another way that I'll try to make the point. You think that Josh Allen (Jax) is the 3rd best defensive player in the NFL? No, he was just the most recent to sign.

Go back in this thread, I already said Jones is overpaid.

Mahomes gave KC a discount. Everyone said it when he signed. He has a blank check but chooses to free up more money for the team (similar to Brady)

Dak and Goff are both top 10 QB’s, why is it outrageous that they get paid at the back end of the top 10 salaries in the NFL?

read post #70. If that doesn't explain it, I don't know how else to try and do so. Yes, that philanthropic Mahomes and his $450M contract he signed in 2020 that can be worth up to $503M and made him by far the highest paid player at the time and then restructured it to this last year:

Mahomes will now make $208.1 million between 2023 and ’26, the most money over a four-year span in NFL history....

That's still only $52 million a year for Mahomes and it will be the most. Again, why is it outrageous that I suggest that Goff would get $45 million a year? Or that I think that Dak is only worth $40 million a year? :noidea:

First off Dak is probably getting at least as much as Goff and Dak isn't great either. Second and most importantly...I'm not going to keep saying the same thing over and over. Read post #70 and then any follow up on the topic that requires my thoughts...read post #70 again. Goff shouldn't get $45M per year. The discussion isn't about what he should get, but what he will get.

I didn't say Dak wouldn't get as much as Goff or more. I said that Dallas shouldn't give it to him. It doesn't make Dallas SB odds much better, and I would argue it makes the team worse long term. I'm sure someone would give him more than $40 million, but does Dak want to start over with a new team? Same with Goff. Both need great players surround them.

Post #70 is apples and oranges. We are talking the very top paid players in the entire league...I'm not sure how many starting QB's make less than $30 million that aren't on rookie contracts. On top of that Josh Allen is 26 years old, and their QB is still on his rookie contract.
