Dimly lit, wet dirt track with a guy in a dark suit walking in the middle of the track? It's going to be hard to find Stewart guilty of anything other than bad judgement.

"Dimly lit" is to say he couldn't see him or know where he was. That wasn't the case. You could even see him clearly all the way from the stands on the front stretch.

"Wet dirt track" is to say he couldn't control the car. Again not the case, they were doing pace speeds and these cars are designed specifically to run in that condition.

"guy in a dark suit" is again to say difficult to see, not the case.

It's Tony Stewart. It doesn't matter whether he did it on purpose or not, they're probably not gonna be able to prove anything. He's got too much clout and there's too much circumstance.

The local authorities just came out and said the investigation is "not criminal".

I wonder if he still intends to race tomorrow... If so, get him a new public relations agent.

I was shocked they showed it, but it looked like they cropped out the part where the really nasty stuff happened. I saw the original vid which was the same one they showed. Wish I didn't.

If the in-race radio communication was recorded, then that could really tell the story.

Is there radio communication in that level of sprint car comp?

Yep saw/heard the same thing. He's a veteran driver who knows how to stay clear the wall and other drivers within inches, but he can't stay clear of this kids car one lap, and then he can't stay clear of the kid the next.

He's supposed to be one of the best drivers in the world...

Does he have a history of losing his temper?

Main thing with me is if he accelerated or not. If he accelerated, that should be manslaughter or not. Right now I'm a little too tipsy to tell if he accelerated or not, but I'll watch the video more closely when I sober up.

Dirt track....outside wheels/tries are larger than the inside wheels/tires. To turn these cars towards the inside, you have to throttle up. If you let off the gas, the car will steer towards the outside. Turning the front tires is fine tuning a controlled slide.

My guess is Stewart did not see Ward. There was a car in front of him that barely got by the guy leaving Stewart with very little reaction time.

Hitting the accelerator was the correct reaction to make a quick turn towards the inside.
