As a long-time Pat's fan, I would like to see BB announce his retirement at the end of the season.

I think the Vikings are victims of stat regression to the mean. They won so many 1 score games last year (11) that their luck was bound to flip this year (1-4 thus far). Their RB change hasn't worked out, that will need to be addressed for next season.
Cook has been terrible for jets, getting rid of him was right decision.

I counted on some regression and not winning 11 one score games again

I was expecting 1-4 in 1 score games, I had them at 3-2 at this point

(bucs/Chargers)

Still a realistic possibility that the Vikings come back and make a playoff run if they can avoid turning the ball over.

Although with Jefferson banged up maybe they're just playing for .500. Addison looks really promising, though

w/o jefferson, I don't know

10 wins will be a struggle, I see them winning 6-8

I think Belichick could be getting on thin ice if his season continues on the way it is for the remainder of the year... I think BB is too stubborn to leave on his own, especially with the way things have gone since Brady left... There is no indication that the Patriots have the players in tact to really compete at a high level... Definitely should be a conversation in the offiseason between owners/BB imo...
Who is going to replace him? Can't fire him without a plan. He was too good for too long.

Vrabel seems like a good suggestion if it's an orderly transition after the season. Remember when people thought McDaniels was the heir apparant?

This thread is a good indication of how many weak teams out there will be looking for a new HC.

The Giants and Commanders look like they each have only 4 more winnable games on their respective schedules. 2 of those games are against each other. I don't see either HC returning for 2024.

They're going to let him try for the wins record before pushing him out.

I disagree. I think they'll likely let him finish the season but if things don't get any better at all then I think he's gone after week 17.

That said, they seem to think they have something in Jerod Mayo who's already on the staff so it would be interesting to see if they hand him the reigns to see what he's made of if Bill has any more embarrassing losses.

As an NFL fan in general, I think that would be fair to Patriot fans at this point... He already has a great legacy... Unlike Brady, he doesn't have the lombardi post TB so that's got to hurt a bit... But I agree with you - it's time...

Belichick is probably in a hot seat, but accomplished a lot during his tenure. Sure, a lot of it was a great surrounding cast. Today, they are missing a team leader, IMO.

Also, they need some fresh blood in coaching positions — top down.

I don't think Kraft will do it.

He needs to do it, eventually. Let’s see how BB adjusts and finishes season. Looks like a top 5 pick. BB is too old to be an efficient coach in today’s NFL; too set in his ways.

just an opinion from the cheap seats

We’ll see how it goes. Most Pats fans have settled in for a 2-4 year rebuild. Belichick is right, they need to start over … maybe that was an omen of his exit.

Mayo has been waiting in the wings for some time. He deserves more responsibilities. DC for example as of next week. Show me the change!
