I believe they will use the EU universe just not stick to the main stories.....the girl looks just like they portray jaina solo....the villain guy could be jacen solo? I think they are just throwing people off with the whole "were not following the EU" .....how can luke skywalker be his age now and not play his age on screen? Meaning if jaina and jacen didnt exist in this movie all the books wouldnt follow the same timeline with the movies anymore......how can chewie be in the movies when he died? I think they will change up things but keep it where it still matches up with the timeline......i bet jaina and jacen will be in the movies....with the actors being their age now....luke, han and leia.....that means in the books when they were the same age as they are now in real life....jaina and jacen are the main characters....will be based off the new jedi orders i believe....gotta explain where all these NEW jedi's will come from....remember, luke and leia were the last living jedi supposedly...

Oh yeah....the clone wars crap sucks as bad as episodes 1-2...

Also if they change crap up on the movie to mess the timeline up.....why would i continue to read the books? Only reason i ever read them in the first place is because it followed the main characters and followed what happened to them after return of the jedi....the books they are on now....luke, han and leia would be the same age they are in real life...40 years after jedi....so i believe they stick to timeline...just new and different stories in the that same timeline will be made most likely referencing other things that happened in the books...thrawn, vong etc......leaving the door open to go back and do prequels if they want to and show those stories....

12 Years a Slave star Lupita Nyong'o, who won the Academy Award for best supporting actress earlier this year, and Gwendoline Christie, the 6-foot-3 British performer who plays Brienne of Tarth on Game of Thrones, have officially joined the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. Lucasfilm announced the news Monday.

"I could not be more excited about Lupita and Gwendoline joining the cast of Episode VII," Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said in a statement. "It's thrilling to see this extraordinarily talented ensemble taking shape."

This is confirming that Disney is planning a SW universe movie every year for at least 2015-19.

The 7-9 storyline movies will be coming out on a two year schedule: 15,17, and 19.
But with these director announcements, they're saying that at least 2 movies that deal with independent stories are green lighted for 2016 and 18. These could be origin stories that take place at different time periods.

Directors have been chosen for these two movies:

2016: Gareth Edwards who directed Godzilla
2018: Josh Trank who is currently doing the Fantastic Four reboot for Fox Studios.

Good smugglers grow old.

I can't imagine Luke, Han, or Leia have more than three minutes of screen time in the new movie. Their's will be like Uncle Owen, Greedo, & Red leader one. Cool parts, but not al all integral...

This sucks as I'm sure it's going to delay some production.

I actually heard that Han was getting a decent amount of time in the movie as a character.

It's also been reported that for many years now, he moves very slowly and tentatively because he took a lot of abuse filming the Indy series and other movies, and his body is wreck.

'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' trailer to debut Friday in theaters.

The first trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be debuting in a small number of theaters across North America on Friday.

The trailer runs for 88 seconds and will begin playing worldwide on Monday. Regal Cinemas says that the trailer will be playing before all of the movies it's showing, and it's likely that that will be the case at other theaters as well.

The theatrical premiere is an interesting choice for Disney and Lucasfilm, but it'll get Star Wars straight onto the big screen and during one of the biggest moviegoing days of the year. Regal Cinemas says these showings will constitute the trailer's "world premiere,".

The Force Awakens will be released on December 18th, 2015.

Well, I'm sure most, if not all of you have seen the new Star Wars trailer, so I won't bother with a link.

The villain's lightsaber was cool looking with the addition of a cross-guard/quillons.

I'm assuming it is actor Adam Driver holding that lightsaber since he is supposedly playing the primary villain in the film.

Prior to becoming an actor, Adam Driver was a US Marine:

It looks like this character, played by actress Daisy Ridley, utilizes not a lightsaber, but rather a lightspear or lightstaff:

"Will Smith's kids."

Then would appear Lando's smooth move did pay off after all. All that time Han was frozen in Carbonite,.....well it doesn't take much explaining. Bros before Ho's violation.

Hey now.

There it is in full HD quality. This is a teaser trailer so wasn't going to show much, but still. Love the look of it. Amazing that filming with the actors is reported to be already about done, but there was probably some delays due to the injury to Harrison Ford's ankle during filming. Possible his scenes are finished as well by now. They'll spend most of 2015 on additional effects, CGI, music, and edits. Can't wait. Love the xwings skimming the water like that.
