I heard that Logan Forsythe was on the block and it looks like we just traded him to the Rays for righty for Alex Torres. I like Forsythe but he was very dispensable. I hope this is a good move for us.

It was a 5 for 2 swap. The only guy I'll miss is Andriesse. I like the deal overall. We got good value. Torres will be our shut down Lefty in the pen. The pitching prospect we got from the Rays has a big time arm.

All the fan sites seem to like the trade and they're typically overly-critical IMO.

But here's the bad news...

Top prospect Pitcher Max Fried has been shut down for 2 weeks due to soreness in his arm. The team is being cautious with him. They expect him to be fine.

Just heard that Robbie Erlin is ready for a start. Our rotation just keeps getting deeper. I just hope Tyson Ross learned from that rough start against the Dodgers.

Good win today. When the offense starts clicking and Joaquin Benoit and Huston Street are on, I really believe the 'ole Pads will put together a nice run. After last night's game I'm not ashamed to admit that me and my son were discouraged. The offense was basically flatlining. We still have a long way to go to be competitive in the division but the talent is there. Joaquin looks great in a Padres uniform.

I'm not the least bit worried about pitching. Spreading four or five hits out over 9 innings is going to lose us 100 games.

3 runs in 18 innings. Thank goodness Erlin was terrific & we split the doubleheader. Still lost 2 of 3. On to Detroit to go up against a team that has HUGE expectations this season.
