Could the 1996 Packers challenge the 1962 Packers for best team in Packers history? Please forgive me for asking this question I was 5 in 1996. The first SB I remember watching was the Falcons vs Broncos in 1998.

Bart Starr is one of the most underappreciated players in NFL history. I'd take him over Favre any day. Just sayin'.

Obviously, it's hard to compare teams that were 34 years apart.

Hmmmm I don't know man... 2014 Cards team has a way better defense sure, but you can't argue with the results that 08 team had... You were seconds away from a title ... I don't think that 08 Cards team get's blown out like they did vs Carolina.. . You guy's also barely survived Green Bay ... I just don't think Palmer is even close to the level of Warner...

While the results of the playoffs were different, Fitz putting on a record playoff run & the luck of the playoff draw are the reasons for that run. The 2008 playoffs had a 9-7 Cardinals host a 11-5 Falcons with rookie Matt Ryan, go on the road against 12-4 Panthers in which Delhomme has 7 turnovers, & then hosts the 9-6-1 Eagles where it took a TD in the last 3 mins of the game to win it.

People forget that in week 16 the Cardinals lost 47-7 against the Patriots, in week 15 lost 35-14 to the Vikings, & in week 13 lost 48-20 to the Eagles. The team was basically a running joke going into the playoffs, a team that sneaked into the playoffs from the worst division in football. People were howling that they hosted the NFCCG because the Eagles had the better record. It took an epic run from 2 HoF players to take us to the SB. And then when we got there, one of those players, Warner, cost us the game.

Overall, the 2015 team is better than the 2008 team. The 2008 team just caught fire at the right time.

2008-Warner 67.1% 4583 30/14
2015-Palmer 63.7% 4671 35/11

I think the 2008 Cardinals were better than the 2015 team. Other than that, solid choices.

It sure feels that way, but if you look at the regular season...the 2015 team was a lot better (won the division, 13 wins, etc). Obviously, the 2008 teams went one game further in the playoffs, which is another kind of big factor to consider :)

I would take Rodgers over Starr and Starr over Favre. Arguably Favre's best year happened as a Viking.

LA Rams have their work cut out for them. For all of their history, STL still has the 2 best Rams teams

I have that pick six as Harrison making an excellent read and not Warner throwing a boneheaded pass. Harrison wasn't even supposed to be where he was on the play but recognized something he saw from previous film and took a chance. Harrison is a guy who runs like a 4.8 40 time and was able to return the ball 100 yards for a TD. If anyone tackles him then the half is over and Arizona still has a high likelihood of winning that game.

It's still a big mistake made by Warner. And one that proved to really be the big difference in the game. A 14 point swing. I don't blame him for losing the game, but the pick-six has to be mentioned.

People like to romanticize that team because of the epic SB run when the Cardinals hadn't won many playoff games in AZ. In fact, only one playoff appearance & win in almost 20 years up to that point.

I view those two Super Bowl teams that year as some of the weaker winners and loserrs of all time. I think thats why the game was so exciting.

That it was. A questionable TD to win it also made the game more memorable.

The 1962 Packers had an average margin of victory of 19.1 points. Most points scored and fewest points allowed in the league. Pretty hard to beat that.

How does that margin compare to today's NFL? The game has evolved so much over that time.
