At least Rod Smith knows what it's like being a Super Bowl Champion. After all he had some guy named John Elway throw him the ball a few time every game.
okay they could be the best trio of running backs in league history

McClain scheduled to meet with the Cowboys. do you think we sign him?
I like McClain and figured we'd give him a look, but I think we may have too many numbers to offer him a contract with any guaranteed money. I think we would love to bring him in on a non-guaranteed or very low guaranteed deal but not sure he'd accept it.

I wouldn't give McClain any money guaranteed this season. It'd be best to sign him to a 1 year "prove-it" deal then maybe next year offer him some guaranteed money.

I think I am very interested to see what Mike White has to offer. Cooper Rush wa's great in preseason last year but I am not sure he has the arm needed to win games. White has a cannon. Let's see what moore can do with him. I watched a few games and White certainly never played behind a line as good as the cowboys will have this season. The blocking he had in front of him was not good

But is it just me or does it seem to be edited as he lands. he seems to land too soft and look at the water bottle of the guy drinking in the background. It jumps.

no charges against Irving but the NFL will probably suspend him because he is a Cowboy

Thanks to Sports Day’s excellent series of talking to the college coaches of the Cowboys draft picks, we get some key information about Armstrong. It might go a long way in explaining how the Cowboys got Armstrong in the fourth round, when his talent may have dictated he go much higher. Here is Kansas head coach David Beaty on Armstrong:

Tell us what you heard from teams leading up to draft.

Beaty: The issue for a lot of teams was his combine performance and pro day performance. Well, Dorance has never weighed 260 pounds since he’s been here. He came in very, very heavy. I’m not sure who exactly he was training with, but my way of dealing with him would not be carrying that kind of weight. The guy we know, one of his biggest attributes is his speed and quickness. I can assure you they got a steal out of him because had he ran what I thought he was going to run and been at the right weight, he wouldn’t have been around fourth round. No way.

———

Dorance is a lot faster than what people think. Dorance never ran even remotely close to the (4.87) times he ran for the scouts. He’s been a high 4.5 to mid 4.6 guy every day when he was at the right weight: I think what they’re going to see is one of the most explosive guys develop in the NFL when it comes to getting off that edge. They found them a pass rusher. They got them a guy, no doubt.

So maybe the question is why he gained so much weight. Fat and Lazy and stopped working out or did he think teams wanted to see more size/strength...Looks like he and the team need to figure that out. Personally I think he dropped the most because of his 2017 stats/tape, same as Williams.

WTF is Stephen smoking???? two dozen touches a game. He is slowly turning into Jerry:L
These guys need to just sit upstairs and let Garrett and the Football guys handle the press conferences.

Tavon Austin - WR - Cowboys
Speaking in the Cowboys' post-draft press conference, EVP Stephen Jones said the team wants to get Tavon Austin "a dozen to two dozen" touches per game.

That's a real quote, verifiable at the link below. Jones said that's in addition to the return game. Austin averaged 4.5 touches for the Rams last season. Even during his Jeff Fisher heyday of 2015, Austin averaged just 6.5 touches. We are going to assume the Cowboys' front office doesn't actually dictate Austin is one of the most heavily-used players in football this season, but the Cowboys have made it abundantly clear they want to feature Austin in their old Lance Dunbar role.

3 years. 3 foot problems. I actually had been feeling a lot better about him after hearing how bad his foot was all year last year because I expected him to take a huge step forward in 2017 and he took a step backwards. Now another problem. Frustrating. How long is he out?

Maliek Collins takes one step forward and two steps back. Or something like that.

Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones told some season ticket holders earlier Thursday that Collins injured his foot. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media since has reported that the defensive tackle broke a foot while participating in the team’s offseason conditioning program Thursday.

It will require McClain to undergo surgery on his left foot for the second time in four months to repair the fractured fifth metatarsal, per Todd Archer of ESPN.

McClain’s injury might increase the Cowboys’ interest in free agent defensive tackle Terrell McClain, who visited Thursday but has one more visit to take.

In his rookie season of 2016, Collins broke his right foot during the first week of OTAs. He underwent surgery and missed three months, though he returned in time for the regular season.

He played much of last season with the injury to his left foot, making 18 tackles, 2.5 sacks, three tackles for loss, 25 quarterback pressures and two fumble recoveries. Collins underwent surgery in January.
