But, hey, this 25 year old ss gives the Phils added backup in the system for Freddy and JP (.278/.372). He had an off year in'16 in AA so they sent him back to A. He averaged .256/.334 OBP for four years. Worth a shot just in case. Hope they give JP a shot next spring.

Nah, with rule 5 you gotta keep them on the major league roster all season. I'm sure Klentak was just bored so figured he'd pick the kid and shake up his whole life by making him show up for spring training with the Phils before he gets cut.

There is a rumor that Knapp will be promoted and be the backup catcher on the Phillies. The Phillies were searching for an aging veteran, but why not use the system instead. This way Alfaro can go to Lehigh as the full time catcher.

I like Knapp. 141 hits in '15 and '16 and .276/.348/.422 overall on the farm. I checked on Alfaro and he's .266/.326/.437, seven years in the minors and still only 23. Rupp needs to bust out next year and hit 20+ homers. So between Knapp and Cam we should get 30 homers.
