I just don't see them trading for him when we already have 4 OF's in the mix. I have been preaching for a Kemp deal for two years now, but it wont happen.

Still think Ike will be dealt by Wednesday. *We're not signing Colon since he wants 7-10M for one year. Murphy may end up not being dealt at all. We shall see what happens.

Also wouldn't mind Motte or Perez for the bullpen.

* that is flat out criminal, and disgusting on our front office's part.
:gaah:

In fairness, Colon is sauced out of his mind. He'll get popped with a PED suspension at some point this year.

The Mets and Orioles have been in repeated contact this winter, according to multiple reports.
The Mets have reportedly asked Baltimore about SS J.J. Hardy (Rubin, Nov. 25), OF Nick Markakis ([ame=""]Francesa, Nov. 13[/ame]) and top pitching prospect Dylan Bundy (Duquette on MLB Network Radio).

Man I would love Hardy.

Think they would want one of Wheeler/Syndergaard for him if they asked the Cardinals for Shelby Miller. I'll pass on that deal, though Hardy is one of the most underrated Shortstops in the game.

The Mets are among teams that have expressed interest in free-agent SS Stephen Drew, although only the Red Sox have reportedly made him an offer so far this winter…

1:50 pm: The Twins, Mets and Red Sox continue to look like the most likely destination for Drew, according to people with knowledge of his market ([ame=""]Cerrone[/ame]).

Oh I really hope we can land Dew! Would have to move Murphy and Ike though

More in fairness, so too are many others.....which builds the case for an incentive clause or a contract void, due to a positive test/suspension, should it occur. Btw: "sauced out of his mind" might just be a tad overblown to be honest.

Haha, I was just being a dick. But 40 years old putting up a career year? Guy's career was shot 3 years ago.

Speaking of aging pitchers, word is we're talking to Freddy Garcia and Johan. On cheap short term deals why not? If they can be even the fraction of the players they were I'll take whatever innings we can get out of them.

Arroyo should be the target and it seems he is.

The Mets are among a dozen teams to show interest in free agent RHP Bronson Arroyo. The Mets were reportedly to meet with Arroyo either at his home in Tampa last week or during the Winter Meetings this week.
2:53 pm: The Mets and Reds are making a strong push to sign Arroyo (Wolfson).

Also interested in Dustin Ackley of the Mariners.

The Mets, Yankees and Padres have inquired about the Mariners’ Dustin Ackley (Heyman).
In addition to second base, Ackley has also spent time playing all three outfield positions and a few games at first. In 2013, Ackley played in 113 games for Seattle, hitting .253 with a .319 OBP, with a .660 OPS. He hit 18 doubles and four home runs, with 31 RBI.
At 25, the former second-overall pick, Ackley is a career .245 hitter with a .315 OBP and .669 OPS in 356 major league games.

It's possible he just doesn't want to play there but glad we went with the guy that's a year younger and can actually field for fewer years and equal money.

Mets have re-signed Jeremy Hefner after non-tendering him last week.

The Mets and Jeremy Hefner have agreed on a new contract (DiComo). It will be a minor-league deal (Rubin).
Hefner was non-tendered earlier this month.
He will likely miss all of 2014 recovering from Tommy John surgery, but will be able to rehab at the Mets facilities with his new deal.
In 12 starts between May 13 and July 12, Hefner went 4-2 with a 2.71 ERA, allowing 22 earned runs, 16 walks and seven home runs with 57 strikeouts in 73 innings.
Overall, last season, he posted a 4.34 ERA and 1.293 WHIP, with 99 strikeouts, over 130 2/3 innings in 23 starts.
