Let's post everything here.

First thing I'll say is that it's a great sign for Heat fans that the big 3 met today to discuss what each will possibly re-sign with Miami for and it is also a great sign that LBJ or CB has yet to schedule meetings with other teams with free agency 26 hours away

Im glad Haslem opted out, but he really needs to do the Heat a favor and just retire. get paid as a coach. That way you are still with the team but dont count against the cap. His playing days are done.

Hard to say if his playing days are done when he hasnt really been given much of a chance to contribute the last couple of seasons in favor of scrub battier - the few times that UD has gotten PT he has shown what he can bring to the team in limited playing time which is much more than many guys on the roster are even willing to give - he does the dirty work that no one on the team outside of maybe Birdman is willing to do.

He may retire seeing as how underapperciated he is but hopefully he returns and gets a fair shot to contribute again before calling it a career.

LeBron is really asking wade and bosh to take major pay cuts by demanding the max

I didnt expect this from Lebron. I mean he is worth the max and then some, but if he wants Miami to be able to compete and upgrade the roster, he should have taken less, especially because of the No State tax in Florida. He should have accounted what he would have been saving into the contract.. Its really Wade that needs to take less. But im sure this was all talked about between the 3 of them and they knew this when they all opted out. Just seems a little greedy of LBJ.

Could be a polite way of not taking on new suitors. He has sacrificed already. I think he will take a little less than the max with Miami, if he stays. Not sure it is greedy. He has all the pressure here. Again, I think it is just posturing. We shall see.

I cant imagine now how he doesnt stay. If the 3 of them sat down and siscussed things, no way Wade opts out if LBJ had any intentions on leaving. Bosh could opt out and get get max somewhere else, but Wade wouldnt get anywhere near that. So for Wade to opt out, he had to be 100% certain that LBJ is staying.. So that leaves me again with him asking for max doesnt really help miami. But like you said it could just be a polite way of telling other teams dont even waste your time.

i would love to see Celtic fans if somehow Miami was able to convince Paul pierce to come play one season with them. Get him at a bargain price. I know it will NEVER happen, but i would love to watch Celtic fans turn on him so fast lol.

Can't Miami get creative and manipulate the salary cap using the big 3's bird rights?

Sign Lebron (22 mil) Bosh (15 mil) first to signal to free agents that we have our foundation together and a plan in the works

Then sign Lowry (10-11 mil), Ariza (7 mil), and Hawes or Hill (4 mil)

That equals about 58 mil. We would then have to go over the cap to resign Wade (15 mil), Haslem (2 mil) and then use min contracts to fill out the rest of the roster (Ray, Bird, Jones, Beasley, etc)

It would put us at about 75 (so 12 mil over the cap)

If we're willing to pay the luxury tax then we can make it happen

No. Because the big 3 contracts, as well as Haslem's have cap holds. The current CBA would prevent that.

I'd like a good look at Vince Cater with the mini-mid-level that the Heat have. He could play the 2 or 3 off the bench and shows he still has good value.

Agree. Sort of. Do we really want more over-the-hill role players who could fall apart at any moment?

We need some youth and athleticism on this team first.

yea I thought miami was going to go after some younger guys. Carter and Marion are old guys. They dont improve us that much and even if they do, its for a year and then we are on to looking for better guys come next off season. Miami has to go younger. I keep seeing alot of interest in PGs and wingmen, but I dont see anything about a center. we need to upgrade there. Bosh is not a center, he has to go back to the 4 spot.

Well, I think it was more of the fact that we took the same veteran core to the Finals 3 straight years that finally caught up with Miami. But we do need some youth. I'm really eager to see if Lebron is indeed taking the max - because if he is, say bye to a youth movement.
