Another college arm: LHP Steven Okert.

comp seems to be Dan Runzler.

I'd prefer Runzler's power with Affeldt's curve, Lopez's slider and Mota's accuracy, but Runzler 2.0 is good for his current age. 1.0 will likely have September as his last chance before DFA... if not sooner.

And oh, how sweet it is...

In all seriousness, I think Bip has a little bit of a point. Obviously, I don't think the debacle that is Barry Zito's career could have been avoided if he got married six years ago, but it does help. I rebound a lot quicker from bad days at the office since I met my wife. (mooshy interlude over)

Yeah. I'll hold my breath for the first two innings of all Zito starts from here to eternity, no matter how much he loves his wife. Then, I'll either turn off the TV or enjoy a great baseball game.

You'll know the honeymoon is over when you come home from the office and immediately think you need a bigger house.

I tend to agree. But we're still stuck with him as our 5th starter in 2013. I don't think even then we can dump him on the Yanks or whomever.

I dunno about that. Say he pitches low fours ERA; he'd be worth something to a pitching starved, playoff eyeing AL team at the deadline next year. Of course, his NT clause would have to be bought out.

And Stratton could be close to ready about then....just sayin'.

FWIW, I agree on Heston. He'll need to dominate at AAA before he's ready. Then again, HE could be the one replacing a traded Zeets.

That should be sooner rather than later... but mostly because we have an 1,100 sq. ft. condo and two dogs.

Better. He has some serious tools. Plus arm, speed, power, and D. His only knock is the hit tool, and he projects to put up Dunn like hit or miss numbers if he reaches that sealing.

Another early power pick with a huge ceiling and floor lower than Hell.

I'm not giving up on Runzler 1.0 that early.

I appreciate your faith. This is coming from a guy who thought that Andris Biedrins might be able to be an average NBA Center for more than one season up until about December 2011.

I tend towards dysfunctional relationships with lefties who can throw mid-ninety fastballs.

I guess I'm the same way with athletic 7-footers who have soft hands... not that there is anything wrong with that.

While you all THINK he is talking about Biedrins, truth be told, heath has a Fathead of 7-foot-2 LA Sparks center Margo Dydek on his wall at home.

BTW, The Giants selected another college arm in the fifth round:

LHP Ty Blach: 89-91 FB, 92-94 peak; good CU that has improved in last calendar year; attacks hitters on the inner-half and is a renowned strike thrower; low-80s SL flashes plus; good overall command; has the three pitches to start and above-average velocity from the left side, but lack of draft year domination at the college level is a tad disconcerting; 6-1, 200 pounds

Strike thrower.

Atlanta’s last three picks have been named Black, Brown, and de la Rosa. Surprised Zach Green got by them

Are the Giants completely abandoning any attempt at developing a non-sure-thing bat now? 4 of the top 5 picks are arms...

Not that I necessarily disagree with this strategy, just a bit weighted...

Seeing how tiny that women's basketball looks in her hands reminds me of another NOFX song:

Looks like Augusta and Fresno are going to have some arms next year....

Classic.

By the way, Fat Mike is most definitely no longer even remotely close to fat. Skinny Mike just doesn't sound as good though.
