This is a five-fold increase on his current salary. And he literally did nothing to earn it, other than be the guy who was the backup when Luck retired.

Run-of-the-mill QBs are a dime a dozen.
It's in line with the Case Keenums of the world. That's probably his market value until he shows he can be a bonafide starter.

He's a lot better than Hoyer, imo

It's under 10% of the cap, so no.
They have space, sure.

Not sure why they needed to guarantee two-thirds of that. Teddy Bridgewater, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Tyrod Taylor, and Ryan Tannehill all signed for anywhere from $7 mil total guaranteed down to $1.5 million guaranteed.

It probably won't hurt them now, but they just pumped a lot of money into the lower-tier QB market (granted, Carr and Gartopopolopolol also say hi here, but at least there were signs around those guys).

Ya I guess your right.
Sure wish I was born with the talent it takes to make that kind of money.
That's why they make what they make I suppose.

Imagine being Zeke Elliott or Melvin Gordon and finding out that Brissett just got $15 per year.

as the 19th highest paid QB.

Melvin shouldn't be in the same conversation IMO. Last year was the first season he topped 4 yards per carry, which is typically league average. He needs to come back to Earth a bit.

yeah but his oline was ranked dead last over that time too, food for thought.

He’s a solid back. Obviously he contributes in the passing game as well. But I agree he isn’t really on the same level as Elliott or Bell or anything.

taking away Lucks base salaries for 2019 & 2020& 2020 roster bonus) pretty much cancels out both QBs guaranteed money. Luck off the books saves them about 31.125 mil. Both Qbs for the next 2 & 3 yrs owed 29 mil without earning the rest.
Colts arent in bad shape there.
Luck's sudden retirement cost them but as any player retiring will.

Proof football players are paid too much. Fifteen dollars a year? Wow!

It’s crazy. Fast food workers want $15 per hour and Brissett only gets $15 per year.
