Why? He is a reliable backup catcher and a great clubhouse guy. I don't see in what universe Jesus Sucre is an upgrade over John Buck.

And the players not being happy... whatever. I'm sure it's a shock at first, but they're adults and they know moves can be made anytime. I fully expect them to get over it and keep playing good baseball. If the difference between winning and losing is your backup catcher, you have bigger problems.

well, if that's accurate, then it makes some sense.

he works with pitchers more than anybody else, and if they're feeling insecure with him behind the plate, then i can see why they might complain to the brass.

but sucre isn't an upgrade.

hoping this doesn't cause dysfunction between the pitching staff and position players.

buck was obviously really well liked and unless a significant upgrade is made with the new catcher, this is kind of stupid unless there's a lot more to it.

I think we should pump the brakes a little on this Fire Z talk. This is a backup catcher we are talking about. His defense is below average for catcher. Sucre probably grades out better there. It confusing but its a business at the end of the day, lets see how it pans out

It's highly unlikely any blockbuster will include a backup catcher.
