The worst part about Grilli stinking is that we actually have a guy in Melancon who is more than capable of working the ninth but Hurdle won't let go of Grilli.

Let's take a "lookie lou" at today's setup and closer pitching...

25% of the hits for the game, ALL of the runs earned, both runs came from the 8th on, BOTH game tying hits were dingers...

Well done guyz.

how about wilson for closer.
not sure if melacon really has the makeup for closer.

if wilson is not going to be a starter, let him be a closer and we have a lefty closer and righty.

watson has also been unhittable as well.
let grilli be a 7th or 8th inning guy to see if he can re-gather, we were lucky to get so much closing out f him last year. he certainly isn't our closer for 15 and especially 16 when we can really make a run at it.

let the auditions begin.

Welp, Jason Grilli prime example of why you don't invest long term in relievers. He's slider just doesn't have that bite anymore.

These Pirates can now go back into long-term hibernation like they did for 20+ years, and so can I.
