Not sure about Hammer, but Unforgiven isn't really a Western.

I like it as a film (get the feeling Hammer didn't), but it's just not a classic Western.

Classic westerns don't cut it anymore. Same with classic everything. Times and people change.

I like it but think it's overrated. :2cents:

Awww, dammit! I love classic Westerns but now Oscar doesn't approve of those either. :bawling:

My favorite Western was "One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest".

Happened in Oregon, I think.

Western huh. Great film. Only the 2nd movie to get Best Pic, Best Actor, and Best Actress. Good old nurse Ratched. (sic, very likely). Nicholson in one of his many great films.

What haven't you done?

Well I didn't fight in the war.

My grandparents all escaped from Russia in 1915 to avoid the war. So I specialized in that time period when I got my Masters Degree.

Where did you go to school, and what was the focus of your dissertation?

"The Guns Of August"...

Barbara Tuchman. I think that was the first WW1 book I ever read. Kennedy said during the Cuban Missile Crisis that he wished he could give a copy of it to all of his staff.

On the contrary. I love classic westerns. But hardly any of them are made anymore.

University of Texas. No dissertation. That's for a Doctorate.

Did you write a thesis? Did you have to defend it? What besides early 20th century Russian history was your specialty, or was that it?
