Sounds like the 49ers were in talks with Denver about trading for Talib but nothing materialized. He wants to go to play in New England. Reported that Free Agent guard Norwell is a done deal going to the Giants

No offense...doesn't the offseason end in about a week? A bit late for this thread, but anyways....

....don't want Thug Talib. Declining but still effective player, and especially a straight up POS. I wouldn't mind the Carolina guard....link that he'll be a Giant? Haven't seen it anywhere.

Well I'm not sure you will either do to the fact that they can't negotiate yet. My guess is this is because the new Giants GM is the former Panthers GM.

Not really. Offseason extends all the way to preseason. It is just really getting underway with the free agency period opening up next week and the draft in April. Up till now, not much other than franchise tagging and resigning your own players.

I don't want Talib either. I would prefer someone a little younger and not an ass.

Report: Andrew Norwell to the Giants is called a 'done deal'

Thanks for the link.....he's obviously not a splashy player, but would've (could still be) a solid addition. If SF goes for any of the 'wow' players, I hope it's mostly on defense.

I think Norwell was ranked as one of the top three guards in the league. Would have been a great addition. Ninersickness claimed he wasn't a good scheme fit, IDK

Sherman at Deal?

Hell no. Never wanted him on the team because of the history. Now he is trending on the wrong side of 30, his two separate Achilles injuries. I would rather they go younger. I would rather them find someone younger in free agency even if they are not top tier, or get one in the draft.

Congrats? :noidea:

Yeah I don't know how this will work out but I'm guessing the deal is front loaded and the Niners will be able to cut him in year two or three without having to eat too much money.

We need to put the D back together..!:)

continue building this new D, not putting it back together?

IF Thomas and Armstead hit their draft status, that's the huge start. We know Armstead doesn't have a spot per se, but at very least he provides good depth/rotation/situational. If Malcolm Smith meets his FA status, that's a good piece too. It is unfortunate we won't have Foster all season, maybe not the entire season, maybe never, but life goes on.

Witherspoon has to continue his improvement, that would be huge.

I haven't read the contract details yet but if what I heard on KNBR is right we can get out of it after this year.

I'm hearing the 49ers are being linked to OG Andrew Norwell. I don't know if they will sign the guy but he is the best Guard in free agency and it is a huge need for the team.
