Jason La Canfora:

The Lions are actively shopping the 36th overall pick. Perhaps someone wants a QB there. Time will tell

Adam Schefter:

Jets have made calls today to multiple teams to try to move up from 39th spot in second round to draft QB. Debated Geno Smith at No. 13.

I'd stay put and take Hankins or Lacy but if someone told me I couldn't do that then I'd call them up for a possible move down if I were in charge.

Tyrann Mathieu - DB - Player

CSN Bay Area considers LSU CB/PR Tyrann Mathieu a "definite possibility" for the 49ers on day two, but probably not at No. 34.

The 49ers' other day-two picks are at No. 61 and 74. The 49ers have a glut of cornerbacks, but could view Mathieu as an option in the slot. Coach Jim Harbaugh also places a high value on return specialists, and Mathieu is one of the very best in this year's draft class.

God I hope not! Let some other team deal with the character issues that are going to give that team the inevitable headaches that will come from drafting him. I'm sorry if that rubs some of you the wrong way but my gut tells me he is pretty full of himself, not really sorry about his pot use(just sorry he got caught...over & over again), and surrounded by people willing to enable him at every turn. Hope I'm wrong but I do not want to see him in a Niner uniform!

@ChrisPozz Just curious, what's your gut feeling about him as far as his character is concerned?

I would trade with the Jets in a heartbeat, but we'd have to somehow get their 2nd and their 3rd from them, for our 2nd. Maybe give them our 2nd plus some combo of later round picks for their 2nd and 3rd? Don't know if we could pull it off.

I want Tank, then Margus Hunt.
Hankins, then Jessie Williams.
Cyprien.

On Mathieu? I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole until late AT BEST (probably not at all for the 49ers specifically). And even then I probably wouldn't advocate for him because I don't see the reward being high enough with the risk you take on by adding him to the 53.

I don't know if I would go after Lacy in my opinion. 4 RB's on the roster and none actually will play special teams seems like a waste to me. I rather get Lattimore later and put him on IR or PUP and let him work his way all the way back to 100% and red shirt this year. Gore isn't finished and Hunter will come back strong and same with James IMO. I rather try and get an extra 3rd and swap 2nds with someone or get a 1st next year.

Tank Carradine - DL - Player

USA Today's Mike Garafolo compares Tank Carradine's knee situation to Da'Quan Bowers' in 2011.

Carradine tore his ACL last November. He was able to run pretty fast in a straight line at his April 20 Pro Day, but the results of Carradine's medical recheck at the Combine "weren't very good." The fear amongst NFL teams regarding Bowers was that his knee injury was degenerative. Clubs may have the same fear of Carradine. We still wouldn't be surprised if Tank went in round two.

And sorry NinerSickness. If the Niners take Ertz over Hankins, I'm no longer inviting Baalke to my birthday party.

This is probably a stupid question because I don't have any concept of draft pick value.

With that disclaimer; is there any chance we could trade back with Philly and swap 3rd rounders? Maybe we give them another late round pick as well?

My thinking is they block the Jets from moving up and getting Geno Smith and we get back into the top of the 3rd round.

Eddie Lacy - RB - Player

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports Alabama RB Eddie Lacy is likely to be selected "in the first six or seven picks" of the second round on Friday.

Rapoport mentioned the Bengals and Cardinals at Nos. 37 and 38 respectively. Arizona reportedly "really likes" Lacy's power and slashing ability, while Cincinnati could use another back to team with BenJarvus Green-Ellis and company. We think the Jets and Raiders could grab a running back early on Friday, too.

Do you mean trade back from 34 to 35? Swapping 3rd rounders would be a screw job for Philly in that scenario.

Matt Barkley - QB - Player

ESPN's Chris Mortensen stated on SportsCenter that he expects USC QB Matt Barkley and Mississippi State CB Johnthan Banks to be on the Jaguars' radar at No. 33 overall.

Keep in mind Mortensen called Brian Quick to the Rams at 33 at roughly this same time last year, while many expected them to draft Rueben Randle or a large host of alternatives. The Banks idea -- a good one because he'd fit new Jags coach Gus Bradley's press-man scheme -- was previously floated by NFL.com's Gil Brandt. Mort didn't rule out the possibility of a Jaguars trade down.

Why would an ACL tear be degenerative? You fix it and move on. Bowers had much bigger issues.
