I just shook off 20+ Lbs myself and I feel great. I'm right at 190 now so another 5 and I'll be where I'd like to be.

It's also really terrific that there's a very strong culture of walking at my new club. It's really hilly too but we have push carts and we walk 18 all the time now. Weird that last year I was chubby and riding in a cart on a flat 9 holes.

At my home range last evening, I think I figured out my driver swing and I started hitting them all dead straight. We'll see if I can replicate that today at the range.

The fewer LBs hanging around our waistlines, the better off we are.

Walking...that's great!

Many courses here try to avoid walkers...in fact our home track doesn't allow walking on weekends...understandable for early tee times but later in the afternoon idk why they don't. Almost every course is hilly around here but that shouldn't be the reason.

I think they just want the cart revenue. Colo is a lot more flat than you might think, but still 5200+ ft up and they walk courses out there.

I sucked something awful today, but my putting was lights out. My score did not reflect how I hit the ball.

Next time out I'll smoke every shot and putt like a blind person.

You score better when you're hitting greens but you putt better when you're missing 'em!

Don't want to jinx myself, but I'm making a few more putts this year.

Bought this goofy looking Spider putter. I've seen Day using it and a few others on tour...Was playing around with it in the PGA Superstore and it just felt great with the weight and oversize grip...made 3 in a row in the store from about 15'...took it home.

I've been looking around at new putters and really like the look of this one:

Indianapolis CS Putter

tough to find one of those to try out though...

Cool looking!

PGA SS has a wide selection of putters, but I haven't seen this one. It's close by my office, so I'm in there every other week looking around.

Home course..Apalachee. Sat. morning 11. Hadn't played here in two weeks. With all the rain this week and the warmer overnight temps, definitely saw the impact on the conditions. The bermuda fairways were lush for the 1st time all season, and the rough is starting to grow in...greens still fast, but much more receptive.

Only 2 of our normal trio playing...paired with another twosome.

Short version...39-45...good enough for a win on the front & overall by two shots....we tied the back.

Long version...Just goes to show the effect of a ranger. We teed off off on time...par 5 1st hole...no one was on the green when we teed off....the starter normally lets you go once the group ahead hits their approach to the green (3rd shot in most cases). On 2, (par 4) same thing when we get to the tee the green is clear.

As a group we played pretty well on 6 & 7 so we did close the gap on 8...they (a twosome) were leaving the green when we pulled up to the tee . This made for a smooth front 9...we played it in slightly less than 2hrs...make the turn and the group ahead was on the green, we tee off, no problem. We did have some issues on #10, but nothing major but now the group behind is on us (they apparently didn't stop at the turn as we did)...we close out #10 and go to 11 the group ahead is gone and here comes the ranger telling us to pick up the pace...we're a hole behind and creating a log jam behind.

I rushed several putts after that and so did my buddy and generally fucked up the back 9...I saw the ranger after the round at 3:05 and I told him I know you were just doing your job, but thanks for nothing...we rushed to closed the gap on that group ahead...you do realize we started a hole behind a twosome...right? Yeah, I saw that...sorry.

I wasn't going to break 80 or anything, but it feels better to blame someone else...lol

Yesterday played the back nine. Shot a 45, started with three straight sixes before finding some semblance of a golf game. Only thing working were my wedges.

Temps mid 90's and it seemed we stood forever waiting to take our next shot. Went through two gloves

Upper 90's today, hoping we can do all 18 holes if the legs hold out. Going to take a lot of water with us today.

Happy Memorial Day Golfheads!

The military is not been apart of my immediate family, but all of my dad's 4 brothers (dad was rejected for a bad heart) served and several cousins retired from the military...covering WWII, Korean, Vietnam, and Desert Storm wars fortunate they all came home alive...for them and the current military, I say thank you!

And today, we Remember those that did not comeback alive.

For those, I give the ultimate thank you!

No golf or grilling today...that tropical system out of the gulf has been throwing bands at us for the last 7 or 8 days it seems is drawing closer...washout today and much of this week...I hope it clears out of Myrtle Bch this week as well...I leave next Wed so we should be okay.

With this weather, I played Sat and grilled out yesterday....Hope your Memorial Day weather is better

Enjoy it fellas!

That sucks...Sat was extremely humid but the cloud cover kept the temps in the low 80s...90s and waiting for every shot...geeze....I might be in a cart.

Temps weren't a whole lot better, but the course was running smooth.

Started on the back again, three straight pars, and then came the par 3. Tee shot hit just short of the green and veered right and right into the sand trap. Hit it thin and it embedded into the side of the bunker, next shot barely got it up on the fringe, ended up with a five. Mixed in a couple more pars, a boogie, and a double bogie for a 41. Turned the corner, played five more holes and was completely out of gas. It was time for beer.

The change in swing is becoming more consistent. The other thing I really need to focus on is grip, I have a tendency to grip the club really tight and I lose club speed and don't release the club head. The more tired i get, the worse it gets..and then I start swinging too hard and it becomes a complete mess.

Another 1:39 tee time today, another day in the 90's.

In my world...<45 for 9 holes is not bad golf.

Grips...if it's been more than a year or even one year since they were last regripped, that could be part of the issue.

I just regripped all my irons and have noticed some improvement in ball striking...feel more control with less grip pressure with the tackiness.

The good news is that my shoulder is nearly 100%. The bad news is that my game is nearly 30%.

FUCK, I just can't stop bleeding out strokes...84 and 86 the last two rounds.....very frustrating. Phil's killing it and I can't hit the fucking ball. He shot 83 yesterday but a tidy little 76 on Sunday.

I'll get there eventually but I'm def in a slump with my first league match to play tonight. I feel like I'm not all that far off so maybe I'll get my shit together soon.

Yesterday was hot, about 100 on the course. Started with three straight double bogies and then finally started hitting the ball. Ended with a 41 on the front. Turned the corner and was playing bogie golf, had to quit after five, lightning strikes said it was time to go in and drink beer.

So 6 over and then you parred out on the front? Nice.

I saw the scorecard from your club. Two par fives around 550, I don't have the firepower to get to those in 2. I'd be lucky to break 100 on that course.

I can't get to any of our 5s in two but I am getting further inside the 150s in three the more that I play them.

I've got a feeling that it'll all come together eventually and I'll get that sub 80 round I'm looking for.

Holy shit is the golf course beautiful now. The rough is killer as there's not a speck of clover or any other invasives. Just spectacular....as I said, if any of you guys are traveling through Western MA this summer, I'd love to have you come see what I've been braggin' 'bout.
