played relatively decent last week in my league outside of the par 3's where I was +5...that hurt my overall score more than anything else...gross.

My season's over. My leg is just shot to the point where I can't swing a club. I was able to move my surgery to two weeks from today .

finally got a good 9 holes under my belt last night with a 41. I was striking the ball well and recovering really well when I got in trouble...and my putter was pretty solid as well...no complaints at all.

Tobacco Road yesterday. 40-41-81 with three doubles including a double on 18. Had an absolute blast. If you haven't been there yet, make it a priority before it gets any more expensive.

Well just about one month after my surgery I'm feeling great and walking along pain free and off of meds. I gotta be careful but I think that before the pins get pulled around Thanksgiving, I'll be able to get in a few holes even if I have to avoid driver and just take a drop at the 150 marker and start with a 7 iron.

Met my regular buds for a reunion yesterday. At the 5 week mark, I was able to walk 11 holes dropping at the 150yd marker. I did hit driver once and it wasn't too bad. I'm a tad sore this morning but nothing major. Hit the ball very well but of course, the game gets easier when you start out in the center of every fairway~

Weather looks good for this coming Wednesday so I guess the season didn't end for me just yet.

Got two phenomenal rounds in Vegas last week.

Cascata - Absolutely immaculate. Has a creek running through the club house. Caddy did a great job working us around the course. Almost stepped on a tarantula on the first tee and had a run in with a coyote on the 3rd fairway. Fortunately he was too busy hunting some quail. Birdie 18 for a 41-41-82

Wolf Creek - You know those calendars of golf holes that don't look real? That was literally this entire course. Just insane stuff. The pictures speak for themselves. Went 39-40 for my first time breaking 80 since I decided to stop running a vanity handicap.

Going out this afternoon for possibly the last round of the year. Seems like the golf season gets shorter and shorter.

Walked a full 18 yesterday and fired an 82 so not too bad. Week 7 on a new hip so pretty remarkable actually. I had no idea that my season wouldn't end in September.

So not only did I get my season back, I lit it up last Friday. Played a new course I'd never played in mid 40's weather with a stiff breeze. I was +4 after 7 so not too bad. Then I birdied 8 to go to +3 standing on the 9th tee. We all know how this story goes...the bad swing, the wheels falling off the cart and crashing back to earth. Well darned if I didn't hit the green and roll in the putt to go to +2 at the turn.

I was +6 on the 17th tee when I finally screwed up and doubled. Then on 18 the hole was cut into a slope so that was bullshit. Both me and my buddy putted all the way up the slope to the hole just to watch it roll back to our feet. It was fuckin' silly so I blew that one off. 81 with that horseshit but really, it was probably my best playing of the year.

Nice to see you back on the course.

We have about one week left this season and then done until spring

Cortisone shots in the shoulders didn't help much, so I'll most likely have one replacement this winter and then one latter next year.

Hoping this isn't the end of golf for me.

Got to play Dormie Club near Pinehurst last week. This place is special. 16 cabins on property. You have to stay to play. So it feels basically empty. Just super laid back and great service all around. They even topped off my Rivian overnight for me without asking. In a group of two foursomes. We showed up about 3pm the day before and snuck off and played about 12 holes, had a fabulous dinner, and then did some putting contests under the lights until it was time to pass out.

Day of weather couldn't have been better. Group I was playing with had some older guys so we played up to the whites which let me keep my driver in the bag. Was -1 through 5 and then got a little loose around the greens. Ended up carding a 78 which given the rating wasn't super great but I had fun with it.

You mentioned Dormie Club in the same post you noted playing Tobacco Road a second time... both instant additions to a short bucket list. Thank you.

Fuck

The recovery I've made since I posted this is just amazing. Not only did I return to golf this year but I've played at least 7 or 8 rounds with my regular buds and have played really well. Turning out onto that damaged left leg was causing more trouble than I realized. I feel like I'm close to 100% now and I'm hitting the ball much more solidly.

Our private courses have pulled the pins so we've been driving an hour to St Ann's Country Club in Feeding Hills MA. It's a par 72 and on Saturday I shot +4 on both sides for an 80.

All of this news would have been so comforting back in September lying in a bed with my leg cut off!
