rooting for people to fail is classless. plain & simple.

Robert gave us everything he had.

I just dont get the hate.

He didn't give us everything he had. He gave himself everything he had. He refused to do the things that would make him successful and ran the coach that got him ROY run out of town.

It isn't classless to root for people to fail. It is a lack of competitiveness to root for the enemy. Do you cheer for OJ Simpson to be successful?

you lost me after the first sentence ...

guess we weren't watching the same games.

Not going to get into the Mike vs Robert conversation in this thread ... that deserves a thread all of its own.

Let us try to stay on topic.

But there is plently of blame to go around.

However, in my opinion ... the player wanted to stay in the game, like all great players do, and the coach failed him by not taking him out of the game. That is on Mike.

OJ and RG3 should not even be mentioned in the same sentence. If RG3 has problems it is basically related to saying the wrong thing & having bad QB fundamentals. By all accts he is a very good guy off the field, got his degree early and does a ton of work for charity. He also handled his demotion & exit with class. You are going to compare that to a murderer and a guy likely to spend most of the rest of his life in jail?

Funny how the rest of those Redskins teams also sucked. Did they also run Shanahan out of town? You obviously think a lot more of him than me & his son is also starting to fall out of grace with his 3rd straight subpar offense (all of which started strong & fizzled just as quickly).

Everything RG3 did was self-serving. He didn't give us everything he had and didn't do all he could do to improve. He didn't spend enough time studying the film and working on the fundamentals. He didn't listen to the coaches that implemented an offense around his strengths. Instead, he refused to do what made him successful as a rookie. He refused to the point of running the Shanahan's out of town.

Do you hope OJ is successful?

You know, you are like the fourth person from this forum to say that. LOL

Nah - just kidding - you seem like a really good guy. Besides - I don't want to piss off those dogs.

everything after the knee getting smashed is moot ... thats when it was over.

if you want to be mad at someone, be mad at Baltimore.

fuckin baltimore
Actually, if he would have listened and learned how to slide, that injury might have never happened.

I am not comparing RG3 to OJ. I am proving a point that it isn't classless to not cheer for everybody to prosper.

RG3 did run them out of town. Only you would disagree with this.

I know that OJ won't be successful since he is in jail & the opportunities are kind of limited. As for RG3 - as long as it doesn't hurt the Redskins - sure - why not. Again - he has done a lot of good things for kids and others that have helped people quite a bit. I also don't hear about him driving drunk or beating women. So if the worst that he did is not train correctly or get along with teammates is that really such a bad thing?

Krush, I respect you, but no, he didn't. He was all about RG3 and his brand. IF he wanted to give it all, he would have had some humility and actually take some coaching.

Really? I am sure that I can find lots of people who saw a lot of other faults with Shanahan. Again - the dual coach/GM (or pseudo GM) role doesn't work! Redskins really weren't heading anywhere special long term with him. In a way I am kind of glad that it worked out this way since it led to the hiring of SM.

BTW - do you really still believe that Kyle Shanahan is something special & a future successful NFL head coach? A lot of Redskins, Browns & Falcons fans would probably tell you otherwise, but I guess that we can blame this all on RG3, Manziel and Ryan.

like i said previously ... everything after the knee smash is moot.

There was no issue with him being difficult with the coaching prior to that.

Krush.... I cant speak for any one else. But as for me, hoping Griffin does well is kinda like hoping Romo does well. Because at the end of the Day Griffin was never really a Redskin in my opinion. Sure he wore the uniform, and he said all the right things in public. But really he was playing for team RG3 period.

Yes... i like Kyle alot. But my track record on evaluating talent is horrible.

But really he was playing for team RG3 period.

umm ... we already agreed to disagree ?

Well, its moot for us. But whomever pick him up I predict will have the same problems.

True, but you seemed to be wondering WHY some of us actually wouldnt wish him well. I figured I would explain at least from my point of view.

i hear ya ... i just disagree with ya

like i mentioned earlier ... for some younger fans this was the highlight of their Redskins life.

:bump:

2012 was a magical year. The stunning comeback vs Minnesota ... the 4 TD in one quarter vs Dallas on Thanksgiving, the NFC East Champions ... hell, I even "Griffened" on my wedding day Sept 15 of that year.

for anyone under the age 30, who wasn't around for the glory days, 2012 might just have been the most exciting season they've ever had as a Redskins fan.

For that, we thank you Robert.

I hope nothing but the best for him in the future.

I dont agree with trying to take that away from them, or downplaying it, or trying to tarnish it because we had to move on because after the injury he was never going to be the same guy again he was in 2012.

I raised 4 of those younger fans. And yes I feel for those that have not lived to see the Redskins as a truly dominant force in the NFL. But I will counter that by saying, plenty of players have had to change their game due to injury, age, or the game simply changing around them.... the truly greats can make this adjustment. The current generation..... not so much.
