Hey, i'm not trying to say everyone should vote how I do.

Just sharing my opinions, TOO ME Griffey leading off is like playing Dick Butkus at Defenseive End, sure he probably could have done it but that's not what he did.

I don't have much issue Griffey leading off. There is one lineup I just don't get though. Won't name a name though.

I just printed all the teams on one piece of paper... I ranked all the starters (leadoff hitters 1-8... batting second 1-8.... #1 SP 1-8.... closer 1-8 - etc). Then took the totals and ranked the lineups, benches, rotations, & pens 1-8...

I weighted the rotations at 100%, the lineups at 80%, the bullpens at 60% and the benches at 40%...

Very interesting results....

(when I have more time, I am going to try to add up the total team WAR)...

He hit 2 hole most of his career and leadoff in all star games. You compare that to Butkus playing DE? Whatever you say.....

That seems pretty fair

I don't think the rankings will mean much to me. It all comes down to the matchups, especially in baseball.

Actually he batted 3rd most of his career.

He was selected as an All Star 13 times but started just 9 games.

He batted
3rd five times
4th one time
5th one time
7th two times

He NEVER batted leadoff in an All Star Game...

Whatever you say... :suds:

I'm looking back and realized I overrated some of my own guys... Oh well, that is why I drated them, I guess... (My team ended up with the worst bench - by the numbers)...

Cool things - there were two teams that I did not give a #1 at any spot in the lineup, but they ended up 3 & 4 overall. One of them ended up with the best overall lineup (very nice balance). The other had the best rotation... Our cleanup hitters had the most current (or recent) players (PED era)... I thought the bullpens were the hardest to rank...

He hit 2nd for Seattle at the start of his career, 3rd later on.
I thought he hit leadoff in an AS, that's my bad

I'm just going off my own experience. I've ran tournaments for years, own a hitting academy in my hometown, and coach a HS Showcase team with DBat in Dallas. That doesn't give my opinion more or less weight than anyone else, but in my experience, while it's always hard to face a leadoff hitter that gets on base and steals bases, it's much harder to face a guy with an even better on base percentage along with huge power. The danger of a base stealer is going from 1st to 2nd, but he still need a hit to score,(after getting on base himself). So what's more likely against these incredible pitchers, drawing a walk(not likely) or getting a hit, stealing a base(btw, my catcher is Pudge Rodriguez, so youre getting thrown out as you swipe) then getting ANOTHER hit(remember, we're talking Cy Young pitchers) to scratch out a run, OR, having a leadoff hitter who hit over 600 bombs hit one out himself? Understanding the guys behind him still get to hit. Then add in the HR hitter has a higher on base percentage? If you ask pitchers who they'd rather face, I bet it'd the guy who can't beat them with one swing

I think my lineup reflects where guys have been in their career.

When you start getting to your 5-6 hole you might have cleanup hitters but there is nothing you can do.

So are we basing the 1st round matchups on the rankings? Also, what is the format for the February NFL mock, years or decades?

I agree. Throw the ranking out the windows... I'll probably compare each line up and rotation and give points to the best, then look at each matchup and how they would play out a five or seven game series....

I'd also like to say, it won't be easy - but I won't be breaking a calculator to figure this out and I won't be pulling up BR or FanGraphs for every player...

I will also listen to arguments for each team....

All these will thought out. Position by position, which will kill my team at the starting rotation IMO
