Jason Kidd isn't being brought in as a regular assistant for the head coach according to Lakersnation.com - He is being brought in as a full time specialist to work with Lonzo Ball and develop his game. What I visualize is Vogel giving Kidd various areas of LB's game and working to develop the weaker areas to round him off to a complete playerThe fact that they were forcing Kidd on whoever they hire is very worrisome IMO. I will feel like I'm already on the hot seat if I'm Vogel.
You know they have a coach in waiting if you screw up....not the best feeling
If that is true - then It is not the problem many are worried about. I do think getting a specialist to work with Ball is a good idea, but it seems like to me, they waited a few years to late and should have done that two years ago. In fact I am thinking that an assistant coach to specialize the development of the rookies on every time might be a good idea.
