Agree. I see Ariza as the Rockets version of Iggy. Not s star, but he knows his role, stays in it and does a lot of the things that don't necessarily show up on stat sheets, but that have to be done if you want to win.

Losing Mbah a Moute hurts because, he may have been able to be the guy that replaced some of what Ariza does.
Tucker has to play there full-time if they don't get Melo.

....and they are going to have to play Anderson...

Yikes.

They definitely are not finishing tops in the West or the NBA.

But, they should still be too 2 if they don't lose Capela to a offer sheet.

Yeah, our definition for put on notice is probably different.

Obviously, you are a playoff team now.

If I had to guess, I'd put you 3 or 4 depending on OKC being better due to health and addition by subtraction.

But, the gap between the Lakers and Rockets is the size of the gap between your second best player and Chris Paul.

That's still pretty big even with him being gimp part of the year.

Yeah, not sure where Wiggy thinks any Laker fans said we are better than Houston.

Houston is pretty intent on getting Melo once they can. That'll happen before Leonard gets dealt most likely.

CP, Harden, Melo, and Leonard sounds great in theory and in NBA2K but that would take Phil Jackson type coaching to make it work.

#Only1basketball
Melo is washed.

I don't see him being a obstacle in anything Kawhi related.

But, if people thought Pop was opposed to dealing inter conference, how you think he will feel interstate?

That would never happen.

I'm just spitballing.

Put on notice does not mean passed already; just that the process is underway. Could happen this year, more likely next year as they add another key piece either at the deadline or over next summer.

I think I've already established that internet bets with established welchers are pointless.

Apologies to all.

I could have avoided my last 5 posts had I just read back a page.

@WiggyRuss doing @WiggyRuss thangz.

I'd imagine, he's kinda in the same spot I was in last year when Paul went to the Rockets.

The only cold comfort I could take from the situation was the knowledge that they wouldn't beat the Warriors.

I held onto that Shit like a life raft.....lol

So, he is emphasizing that Shit to infinity...

I see you, @WiggyRuss...lol

Tucker's workload may increase a lot on defense.

I thought he was one of the primary defenders on Houston already. Ariza was good at the wing spot as a two-way player. With Mboute gone, there goes their wing depth that allowed them to give GS problems.

The Rockets could really use Garrett Temple

Why would anyone take any of those bets? Especially since they are on things that no one has claimed.

A. Houston got a little worse and the Lakers got better. But the gap didn't close enough for the Lakers to finish with a better record unless the Rockets decide to coast through the regular season to try and make sure CP3 gets to the playoffs rested and healthy.

B. See A.

C. 4th is probably about right. Some say it vaults them to #3. Either way, the Rockets are still the better team right now.

D. Pretty much everyone understands that Lebron isn't playing all 82 again.
I was responding to DJ and Shopsons post about how they were saying the Rocekts would fall off and to quote "The Rockets brief time as the #2 team in the West was put on notice once Lebron came west"

LOL.....I never said that.

I was referring to losing Ariza and Luc Mbah a Moute.....If you don't think their defense took a hit.....I don't know what to tell you.

My daughter did that when she was a toddler. My wife thought it was cute. I kept telling her, she needs to be able to sleep in her own bed.

Wife wasn't having it because it was soooo cute and adorable and she just didn't have the heart to tell her no.

Then, about 2am one night, our daughter got sick and blew rice, etc. all over my wife and in her hair. Not a drop on me.

Our daughter never slept in our bed again. lol
It's my husband's fault that she has this bad habit. From day 1 she's slept with us. When I tried to buy her crib he told me no because of the sids thing. He wanted her next to us. Fast forward to 3 going on 4 years later & she's become a HUGE problem. lol

He complains so much but when we tell her to sleep in her own room she would have a melt down. So, he usually will get up in the middle of the night & sleep somewhere else. So to keep my husband in the bed & my back aligned I suggested we move her bed into our room to start the transition.

PJ Tucker

PJ Tucker played the 4 for Houston last year. But, again, the Rockets relied on length and defensive stoppers to give GS problems. Tucker's a good match for them, but the losses of Moute and Ariza are a gut punch to the Rockets.

I do think their defense took a hit.

But losing a 33 year old Ariza, and a Mbah a Moute- who garnered all of a 4.1M dollar 1 year contract, is hardly game changing material.

PJ Tucker is more valuable than either of those guys. They lost, what? their 6th and 8th most important players?

As I said- as long as they have Harden, CP3, Capela headlining---- and guys like Tucker and Gordon they should be just fine.

Although I do have to say I expect Oklahoma City to be the 3 seed this year. RW, George, Adams, Roberson, Noel, Patterson, FElton etc. is a pretty damn good roster.

I think LA is somewhere in that next tier with Portland, New Orleans, Utah, Minnesota, and Denver.....who knows where to put the Spurs.

Tucker was the one guarding opposing centers at times and doing a good job of it.

Hey I think Ariza is still a solid player- but hes gonna be 33.

He was prob their 6th most important player:

1. Harden
2. Paul
3. Capela
4. Gordon
5. Tucker
6. Ariza

and as i said- Mbah a Moute signed all of a 1 year 4 million dollar deal. Not as if people were beating down the door to sign a guy didnt play in the first round of hte playoffs, averaged 19 minutes in the 2nd round, and then only played a TOTAL of 55 minutes against Golden State in 7 games.
