I will make a bet with you now on any of a few things

A. that Houston will finish higher in the standings than the Lakers

B. that Houston will advance farther than the Lakers in the playoffs

C. that the Lakers are- AT BEST- the 4 seed in the West. Right now I think they will be somewhere between the 5th and 7th if i had to guess

D. that LeBron misses time at some point during the season like he did season 1 in Cleveland- like about 2 weeks give or take. He just got done playing an 82 game regular season schedule for the first time in his career and then went on to have an absolutely INSANE workload in the postseason.

Well duh.....you're really going out on a limb with that.....huh?

@Heatles84 check this shit out.

Why would anyone take any of those bets? Especially since they are on things that no one has claimed.

A. Houston got a little worse and the Lakers got better. But the gap didn't close enough for the Lakers to finish with a better record unless the Rockets decide to coast through the regular season to try and make sure CP3 gets to the playoffs rested and healthy.

B. See A.

C. 4th is probably about right. Some say it vaults them to #3. Either way, the Rockets are still the better team right now.

D. Pretty much everyone understands that Lebron isn't playing all 82 again.

So you're making a bet on things we know already?

Yeah I don't see why anyone would take the other side of those bets. The Rockets won 65 games last year. Even if they take a dip in form, they are still at 55+ win team. The Lakers could wind up a 3 seed. Could wind up a 7 seed. 4 or 5 seems the most likely. So that's a coin flip.

A more interesting wager would be whether the Lakers beat the Thunder in the standings. A lot of uncertainty with both teams.

Agree. I think they will both finish in the 3-5 range this season.

I can see them ending up 4-5 and facing off in the 1st round.

Interesting 1st round matchup with intriguing storylines.....

Yeah. IMO, the Jazz are the team that could surprise a lot of folks. They had one of the best records in basketball in the 2nd half of the season. I could seem them become a 55 win team this year and nab that 3 seed. If they don't, then I would think it would be either the Lakers or Thunder who grab the 3 seed.

Still a piece of Shit.

Sometimes people just aren't capable of real change.

Former NBA player Kermit Washington has been sentenced to six years in federal prison for spending hundreds of thousands of dollars in charity donations on vacations, shopping sprees and plastic surgery for his girlfriend. The U.S. attorney’s office says the 66-year-old Las Vegas man also was ordered Monday to pay nearly $970,000 in restitution. Washington pleaded guilty in November in federal court in Kansas City, Missouri, to making a false statement in a tax return and aggravated identity theft.

Clint Capela is out of his mind

4 yr/100. Take your 15 mil yearly

Sources told ESPN that the Rockets' initial offer to Capela was in the four-year, $60 million range, with the blossoming star center seeking a deal similar to Oklahoma City Thunder big man Steven Adams' four-year, $100 million contract.
Yeah, Bro....

You are 2 summers 2 late for that kinda Shit....lol

The Rockets brief time as the #2 team in the West was put on notice once Lebron came west. The absence of a 3&D SF next to Har_en will hurt them more than you think.

Lakers could make a run at Capela if they move Deng's contract, but they haven't indicated that interest.
I don't think the Lakers have passed the Rockets.

Not with all those bricklayers on that roster.

But, if they lose Capela?

Yup.

I still don't think we've seen the last of the major shuffling since Kawhi is still in San Antonio.

I think it's the Lakers or Philly.

But, if all the offers are Shit, who's to say Pop won't try to close the gap between Houston and the Warriors by sending Kawhi to the Rockets for Capela, Gordon and Parts?

Never underestimate the power of the petty.

I'm not making any hard predictions until that last shoe falls.

Holy shit.

14-16 million is what I was thinking and that'd be a huge pay increase.

Nobody starts negotiations in the middle. Shoot for the max and see what you can get.

I like the Jazz too.

I think the Jazz, Lakers, Thunder, Nola, Blazers will finish in those 3-7 spots.

I'd take the Lakers and Pelicans over the Jazz because they have the better individual players , LeBron and Davis, that have proven they can carry you if needed.

Minny is the team that's loaded with talent.

But, they are playing for a guy who can't let go of the past and none of them seem like they want to be there.

Denver, Minny, Spurs will fight it out for those bottom seeds....as currently constructed.

I did say put on notice, not that they weren't still potentially #2 this year. Lakers will add someone next year that will tip that power balance IMO, and like you noted, if Capela is gone, Houston is going to slip.

MJ isn't trying to make the Hornets competitive.....he's just a businessman.

He bought the Hornets for 275 million in 2010. They are now worth more than 1 billion and he owns 90% of the team.

It is estimated he has made 1.9 billion in his career between salary and endoresements. The most ever for an athlet

Wow.

That increase in value has little to nothing to do with anything he has done running the team though. That has been league-wide.

Put on notice does not mean passed already; just that the process is underway. Could happen this year, more likely next year as they add another key piece either at the deadline or over next summer.

I think I've already established that internet bets with established welchers are pointless.

Yeah, our definition for put on notice is probably different.

Obviously, you are a playoff team now.

If I had to guess, I'd put you 3 or 4 depending on OKC being better due to health and addition by subtraction.

But, the gap between the Lakers and Rockets is the size of the gap between your second best player and Chris Paul.

That's still pretty big even with him being gimp part of the year.

Houston is pretty intent on getting Melo once they can. That'll happen before Leonard gets dealt most likely.

CP, Harden, Melo, and Leonard sounds great in theory and in NBA2K but that would take Phil Jackson type coaching to make it work.
