I fully expect Smart to be a Celtic next season unless the Kings sign him a $20mil per year offer sheet, but he's someone that makes sense for them to go after. The defense and toughness he would bring is missing and he can defend SF's which means he could start next to Fox and Bogdan/Buddy.
I like that better than the other 2 players...

He makes more sense than them because of the defense and toughness, Hood makes sense because he's more of the SF size(even though most of his minutes have been at SG), and Lavine would only make sense if they think he can be a #1 or #2 guy on a winning team.

I wonder what Houston is trying to do. Losing two good 3-and-D guys and then planning on adding the No D Melo, who may not even help them on the offensive end.

I have no idea what they're doing. Their offseason so far has been pretty bad. You'd think after being shocked that Ariza spurned them for Phoenix of all places they would step up for Mbah A Moute or try for some other wing. Losing both, especially Ariza, is really going to put a damper on their switch everything defense. They had a legit chance at beating GS last year but with what's happened so far, I don't think they can. The margin for error they had was thin as is so even losing role players like that will hurt. They're gonna have to make moves down the road because Melo is not the answer.

The Warriors didn't even need Boogie to get better. They got better by default because their "peers" in the West got slightly worse.

Clippers just signed Moute, which means Houston's not returning any of their wings (Ariza) from last year.

first ill address Capela. They are far apart from Capela for a couple reasons. First- no one that has cap room wants to sign him. I think right now only Atlanta and the Kings have cap space that is somewhat major--- Atlanta with 22 million and the Kings with 19 million

Houston is likely offering AT LEAST 18M. If you are Capela- and your options are 22 with Atlanta who doesnt want you anyway because they are rebuilding, and 19M with the Kings what do you do?

Houston knows they are just bidding against themselves at this point- but CApela knows he could do better next year when teams have more cap room.

Theres just no reason for Houston to offer anything over 20M a year- and Capela likely wants 25 a year. Its not like Capela is going else where.

In the end they will make a compromise- I am guessing its something like 3 years 65M.---- not the near max 30M or so he wants---- but over what any of Houstons competition could possibly pay.

as for the Rockets falling off? As long as they have Paul, Harden, Capela, Gordon and Tucker they will be fine. Ariza is solid but he is 33- hes not what he used to be. Mbah a Moute was a nothing before he got to Houston and just signed for 4.3M on a 1 year deal. That should tell you something.

The Rockets brief time as the #2 team in the West was put on notice once Lebron came west. The absence of a 3&D SF next to Har_en will hurt them more than you think.

Lakers could make a run at Capela if they move Deng's contract, but they haven't indicated that interest.

Clint Capela is out of his mind

4 yr/100. Take your 15 mil yearly

Sources told ESPN that the Rockets' initial offer to Capela was in the four-year, $60 million range, with the blossoming star center seeking a deal similar to Oklahoma City Thunder big man Steven Adams' four-year, $100 million contract.
