They got a top 6 centre for two third liners in their 30's, an average prospect and a pick.

Didn't call it a robbery and haven't seen anyone here call it that but Buffalo came out on the wrong side of this one and it isn't really debatable. They addressed exactly none of their biggest needs and created a massive hole on the second line until (if) Mittelstadt matures.

Haha, joke's on you, 30 points on the Sabres is top 6.

Seriously though, I'm OK with this trade. The Sabres had a desperate lack of depth scoring last year, considering a guy who got traded 3/4 of the way through the season was still 6th in scoring. They needed something drastic and they're gambling on youth. Anyhow, it can't really get much worse.

Berglund should miss half the season or so and put up about 25-30 points in the other half. Sobotka is a decent depth player - if you plan on being shorthanded a lot he's not a bad guy to have. Dude named Tage, can't comment on that. Draft picks are overrated unless you use them wisely but this seems like a fair haul for ROR. I personally would have asked for a year's supply of Tim bits thrown in but that just me.

^As much as you dislike Kneel, and who does like him?, I think he will pair well with Gaudreau.

To Neal's credit (bleargh), he has seemed to tone it down a lot. Less likely to end someone's career on a whim. I might have actually wanted him, but not for what Calgary paid him. Not in our situation.

The Penguins did the rest of the NHL a solid by locking him up for a long time.
Just think they got out of Hunwicks salary to take this on...let that sink in for a little while....
