I agree Kstatehater.

I wouldn't go to the glorified practice if I lived in the stadium.

No way in hell am I coming down from Sioux City to go watch a scrimmage...

I did once- and the tail-"getting" was the only interesting part of the day....

WOW..hope that people aren't seriously dogging the spring game. The fact that our spring "scrimmage" is about the only one in the country to put 70,000 people in the stands every year is a huge testament to our fan base and loyalty to our team, which is very important to our recruiting. I will go...if it was televised I would watch...just like the majority of the husker fan base.

The spring game is a significant event, even though it may not be appealing to some fans.

In 2006 Ohio St had the highest reported attendance for their glorified practice at 63,000. Nebraska was 2nd at 57,000.

In 2007 Alabama had over 92,000 for 1st. Ohio St and Penn St were both over 70,000 for 2nd and 3rd place. Nebraska was in 4th with just over 54,000.

In 2008 Nebraska was #1 with just over 80,000. Alabama, Ohio St, and Penn St were all over 70,000.

In 2009 Ohio St was #1 at almost 96,000. Alabama was over 84,000. Nebraska and Penn St were both over 76,000.

So we are not the only team that goes over 70,000 people wasting their time at a glorified practice. In fact we have only done it for 2 years.

am i bashing the glorified practice? DOG forbid! i believe it is one tool, among too many to count, to help the coaching staff put together a gameplan with the right personnel to help win ballgames.

am i bashing the people who think it's something other than a glorified practice? you're goddam right!

I'm sure it's a very helpful tool for the coaches to lead our team to the next level.

I'm pretty sure it's pretty much sold out every year. I know at least one of our "down" years there where 20,000+ seats blocked off due to renovation. I haven't missed one in about 8 years since i've lived in Lincoln, but it really has more to do with the fact I don't have anything better to do. The tailgaiting is fun and I know we're going to win :) I'd skip this year but I'm getting free tickets. It's good for recruiting, other than it's not worth the hype.

Would I want to watch a practice? That is a definite yes.

I realize that I have misspoken in this thread already. I called it a glorified practice. I meant to say that it is a glorified scrimmage. Practice is something completely different. I would love to go watch a practice with all of the different individual drills from all of the different positions and all of that. That is something I would go see.

What is going on on April 17th is not a practice.
