Really would've liked another arm in the pen as well but that could potentially be addressed in one of those after the deadline type deals or possibly from within if guys like Gee/Montero/Matz can get healthy.

Jerry Blevins is making some progress too...hopefully he should be good to go in a few weeks after a brief minor league stint.

Wow, nice deal. I'm a little surprised we didn't give up much, but I'll take it. :thumb:

NEW YORK (8/1)-- Manager Terry Collins finally doesn't have to agonize over filling out his lineup card.

Just how much has the New York Mets' lineup transformed over the past week with the additions of Kelly Johnson, Juan Uribe and now Yoenis Cespedes via trade?

"You're coming in and you're writing some pretty impressive names in the lineup," Collins said before Saturday's game against the Washington Nationals. "And this is no disrespect to our young players that have been here, because without the way they've played we still wouldn't be where we are. Those kids played very, very hard.

"But you're writing some legitimate major league names in the lineup -- guys who've got track records that they get it done here. That's a good feeling to have. When you're sitting here trying to decide today, 'Hey, who's going to hit seventh,' and the selections are pretty good, it's a whole different game than what we were doing a month ago."

Collins may have more options soon, too. Michael Cuddyer is due to return late next week from the disabled list, while David Wright should begin minor league rehab games next week.
