keith hernandez is very good. ron darling is not bad, but gets soft on occasion. bob walk has literally put me to sleep. dewayne staats is a good play-by-play man. anybody else notice that thom brennaman is ironically -given his genes- much better at announcing football than baseball?

I'm no fan of Leake, but he's put fewer baserunners on than Dusty's offense has LOB in a normal day. Most fans blame all that on hitters, but the dugout limits their effectivity in advancing. IMO , suicide by stupidity is always the Reds biggest nemisis in games like these. It's where the light hits Dusty and coaches the brightest. Best I hope for is good pitching and 3 homers. God forbid we've gotta depend on advancing a leadoff double or not attempting a steal in a pitch out count, or if we're going to let an opposing 8 hitter swing away in RISP without a force play.

Somewhere amid Thom's hyperbole and anecdotal circular motion, there often is a decent topic of conversation -- that would be nice if it weren't in the middle of a 2-2 count with the go-ahead run on second base in the 7th inning. I think he's trying to set Welsh up to be a color announcer, which is a good way to work. But he spends too much time introducing the topic. Welsh just is not quite that complex with his answers and it makes Thom come off as more a preacher than an announcer.

Brantley's ok, but not a Hall of Famer by any stretch. I like Marty but he doesn't do TV anymore (he's too honest for TV, IMO). Actually in play by play, I think Keltch does well.
