At a minimum they need to alter their 2 strike approach. But learning to go with the pitch is key to beat the shift which eats up most of their ground balls.

But still this is an epidemic throughout the league just more so with Rangers who are the worst in the majors in strikeouts. Just refreshing to see Guzman and IKF approach.

Some of the metrics are trusted IMO when they further flawed approaches IMO

I’d argue that the reason we all think IKF and Guzman’s approach is “refreshing” is because our hitting coach hasn’t influenced them just yet.

.022: Odor's batting average with two strikes for 47 at-bats this season. He had one hit.

.101: Odor's two-strike batting average since the start of 2017.

.092: Odor's two-strike batting average since the start of 2017 when a right-hander threw him a slider.

Not my assumption. Heard the approach in minors is to be selective and more walks are being accumulated.

Between Ragan and him this puts a big hole in my optimism to rebuild the team any time soon. Those were two important pieces and this will set them back a year and a half or longer. That and Matuella not being worth much at all this year is very discouraging in teems of a fairly quick rebuild. Oh well.

Yeah, we have other guys for sure, but those were 2 that I put very close to the top of the list. Then there is the almost certainty that at least some other important piece or two will go down eventually as well. I think this makes eventually trading away a young talented player for multiple prospects close to a reality. Maybe a Teixeira-esque type of trade. It probably will have to be a lesser player than Teixeira though

Just saying we have shortstop options even before we deal players. I still have hope in guys like Palumbo and Hernandez and later on Crouse and Ragans. Plenty of bullpen arm. OF is stacked. We have MLB players coming. Just need a few to become elite
