I hope the proposed onside kick gets shot down. What's next, catch the golden snitch? Gimmicks for teams that are losing late in the day are NOT a solution. Whatever the NFL comes up with should be available to both teams throughout the game.

Neither player will officially retire before the new year. Both will be designated as post Jun 1 cuts before they officially retire. There's a future combined $26.5M cap hit coming in 2025 on top of this year's hits, but the Eagles were expecting it.

if their goal was to increase returns. Why in the hell would they make a dumbass rule where they can fair catch outside the endzone & get the ball on the 25!?!?!?!
Because they're lying to real fans.

Real fans like kickoffs but swift fans couldn't care less.

Spectacle, not Sport.

So you are agreeing with my comment about dead money outstanding? I didn't say anything about 2024. :noidea:
And add another $20M in dead money for Reddick if they trade him. There is also a small base salary savings for each of the first two and a large savings for Reddick which is a large part of why they are looking to trade him. The Eagles cap issue tore apart their depth last year

Absolutely. The Eagles have effectively overspent their cap position year on year so that by the end of 2023 they have a net overspend of over $190M. Most teams had a net overspend of between $60M and $120M. The Eagles are playing a dangerous game without a safety net.

Poor decision making was the cause, not the cap. They acquired poor replacements for guys like Epps Kyzier White and TJ Edwards.

The cap was absolutely part of the reason that they lost so many key players
Edwards
Epps
Hargrave
White
Sanders
Seumalo
CJGJ
Dillard

Nope. That’s just not true. They had their replacements for these players already on the roster or signed them last off season. They purposefully didn’t resign Edwards Epps White Seumalo CJGJ Dillard. They had guys like Dean that was already on the team, guys like Sydney Brown that they drafted. The only cap casualty was Hargraves because of the price tag of 20 million not fitting into their structure. The Eagles just screwed up the evaluations of the replacements.

So now the NFL wants collisions on kickoffs again?

While I agree that both rules should be changed I think both of these are horrible changes and in particular the kickoff landing in the end zone moving to the 35 yard line

First off if even one guy was not re-signed because of the cap then it proves it was because of the cap. But, seems like a little bit of selective memory. You don't remember the CJGJ drama? It was going to be him or Slay. They weren't signing both. He and Hargraves were two huge losses from those teams and the draft hadn't taken place yet so there were no replacements in sight. As far as the LBers go Dean was not a lock to start at all after his first year and it's not like they only needed one LBer even if they counted on him. You guys for some bizarre reason just can't admit how the cap impacts your team. Look at the dead money on all of these deals. It's stretched as thin as it can be.

Your criticism is misappropriated. The criticism lies in the organizational value place on LB, S, and IOL. Of the guys who left, Epps and Edwards were undrafted rookie FAs. Kyzier White was a value buy one year deal. This is what they always do. It’s always been the plan. Some years they have gotten good answers and some years like this one, they struck out all over the place.

CJGJ wanted to resign with Philly. He didn’t go for much at all to Detroit. Philly had the space and refused to match the deal. Again…it was a poor evaluation.

Jarntt has been saying this dumb shit for 10 years. The Eagles Super Bowl victory fried his brain.
