That actually makes a lot of sense. Geographically logical, preserves some longstanding rivalries. Maybe the SE is the one that seems odd and thrown together, but these 4 teams have held a rookies tournament in the preseason for the last several years.

How about a division champion (first two get in) for the first round of playoffs then throw the final 8 into a redraw based on regular season points?

And just to be crazy, if you sign a UFA from a Divisional rival, it only counts as 1/2 against the cap? And the team that loses the UFA gets the ever valuable Win in the Bank?
